Agree 100%.

I saw one at the dealership yesterday, but couldn't bring myself to ask to drive it, as I had no intention of purchasing. It was so new and clean, someone deserves it to be delivered to them that way.

Even though the Evo is about to bow out and end production, this rivalry is far from dead. I posted a pic on my FB page yesterday, and the feed exploded with comments from each side.

The thing you notice in person, even though the curb weight on the WRX isn't too high, is that the car looks so much bigger than the outgoing model. It's more Legacy than Impreza in appearance, and the interior space is downright massive.

The thing I hate about the car is the stock wheels. They're black only and really uninspiring. I think one with some nicer wheels could look a lot better.

Sure, but nobody is saying it's an Evo. If you want an Evo, buy an Evo. Both cars have their pros and cons. I wouldn't buy a GSR because I do a lot of highway driving, and the trunk is basically for show only, and I wouldn't buy an STI right now because they're still using the same engine that has been in the car for a decade.

I suspect a lot of the people complaining about it now will be driving it in a few years given that the Evo is apparently dead. People can ***** about Subaru all they want but at least they're still producing performance cars like the WRX, STI and BRZ. What the hell is Mitsubishi doing?

my bad, I thought you were implying the new STi drives better than the Evo... the subi is definitely a better car to live with though.

as far as mitsu vs subi overall, the only 2 cars mitsu ever made worth a damn is the evo and eclipse (3000gt can be argued too, but personally I think its crap compared to the competition)...

Exactly, and those two are dead. The Eclipse is a FWD POS, if they even make it anymore, and the Evo appears to have no future. Mitsubishi as a commercial vehicle manufacturer, is close to extinction. The rivalry is almost over, not because Subaru won but because Mitsubishi essentially dropped out.

I kind of thought about what you said earlier, like where would I go to next when the Evo is no more. I think for the first time ever, I'd keep this car for a very long time. Once I had a good amount saved up, maybe something like an M235i to sit next to the Evo in the garage and take over daily driver duties.

there was never rivalry between Subaru and Mitsu as a brand, just STi and Evo specifically.

then again, till the BRZ, suby didn't really have anything else exciting either. but at least they made decent pedestrian cars. The WRX was good too, something Mitsu failed at with the ralliart

That's ultimately the problem now. With the Evo gone, the only cars in this particular segment are the STI and various offerings from the German manufacturers. Personally, I'd go for a CLA45 AMG right now.

Personally I think it looks like the bastard child of the X and a Scion TC. Nothing about the car goes together well IMO. Of course, I think the CLA45 looks like crap too, but I am probably in the minority there.

LED ALL THE HEADLIGHTS!!!!!!!!

Please, auto manufacturers, STAHP!

I agree, especially the bold part

the rear of the CLA45 kills it for me. but even if it looked good, based on the reviews I've read and watched, its a far cry from an Evo replacement driving dynamics wise...

This is fantastic stuff. An almost 8 year old design, but still the king of the segment riding off into the sunset.

How can Mitsu let this rivalry die?

I think it looks pretty similar to the X, but that's a good thing - Subaru WRX STi's typically tend to be pretty butt ugly. The only one I modestly liked was the 2004-2005.

I agree with what others have said though, it's kind of a weird stepchild to the Evo X and a Ford Focus. The front looks slightly bland but much better than previous iterations, and the back end is quite boring.
