maybe the reason that ford is mum on power/torque is that they are still sorting it out. can't help but hope that they are going to try to beat mercedes 350 hp record. seems odd that they mention a more heat resistant alloy for the head when the ecoboost mustang makes 310 hp and is being pitched as a viable track machine. why bother with a better alloy unless going after serious gains?

Cylinder head alloy wouldn't really effect underhood temps. A better alloy would be implemented to handle increased cylinder temp/pressure...

I doubt Ford will contest the 2.0L output of AMG with the new RS....likely 335HP tops if we're
lucky.
Ford will claim "top dog" in other developments:

The real question will be what kind of power packages Ford racing/Mountune offers for the Focus RS. As they allow you to keep your warranty when installed through an authorized Ford dealer. http://www.fordracingparts.com/musta...asp#FocusPacks

Its actually usually due to ****ty fuel. The US has terrible fuel. Most of the rest of the world has 94-95 octane, best the US has for pump gas is 93, and that's not everywhere, most cars have come to the US able to run on 91 octane, which is a decent power loss.
Most OEM's don't spec different emissions equipment for different markets anymore. We don't even have California and 49 state cars anymore like there was in the '90's.
