This! This is one heck of an exception! We know how Nissan R & D guys does their thing on the track. Its expectation is a bit high, so I hope it delivers.

Its important to NOTE: that this CIVIC TYPE R is a PRe production notice the roll bar and I think the body is slightly different however has the same aero as the production.
Agree but those are the old bad boys from the early 90s (except s2k). Even though they are "real" sportscars, they just used early 90s tire technology, suspension, even restricted on factory hp.

Yeah their time isn't official yet. No official sanctioning body to check time even their equipment used on the car.

from the rumors i've been reading, they will do a CTR, in sedan form, for the US. the hatch would be amazing to have. yay US for not getting the best stuff.

not always true. my measly Integra Type R whooped all over a whole group of Lotus Elises. i beat many, many, many "faster" cars. i don't remember being bored, either.
at one point i had it up to 350whp. still not boring.

I dont care the car is fwd or rwd or my favorite AWD. They all can be fast if they build right and balanced.
'Merica! LOL. i agree.

For the record, there is no official sanctioning body for 'ring times...

Some of that might explain the 25 seconds faster around the Ring than the stock Evo VIII when it first came out.
I think you may be under estimating how fast this thing actually is.
That ring time beats ALOT of high HP cars AWD and RWD.

Its not in the OEM's best interest to try and fluff numbers, they set out to make the fastest FWD production car, they too want to know what times it can actually achieve.
Because of safety hence the cage, they have to do 'weight reduction' to get the weight back down to its intended range... as well as other electronics they put in there for data collection.

Which would give it an unfair advantage on stiffness and being able to put the extra weight where they need. Not that it's any less impressive.

No doubt that is true to some extent, it is there to help save a life.

It is true in general when testing, to test the vehicle to its mass production intent.
Testing a mule vehicle to your advantage is actually not an advantage at all, it gives you false results. If your intention is to lie to the world I guess more power to you, I highly doubt Honda moral is a company to try and do that (** cough GTR cough **).
