Robevo RS derails every thread megamerge
Hey now, I said boring to me. On track days I don't even get up to top speed. Literally I just get up to around 120-130 and cruise till I get back into the corners. But I have never cared about top speed. I actually thing go-kart tracks with cars are a blast cause lower speed but more track time.
At track days I've talked to many people who also feel the same way I do so I know I'm not just crazy. Definitely two different breeds of people though.

4th gear accel is boring? My car still has me pinned in the seat at 135 after I grab 5th, it's a little ridiculous. Autocross is fun but It's never as much as fun going into a double apex decreasing radius turn complex like turn 8 and 9 at big willow at 140+ with the car getting a little loose on the brakes

Talking about thrill, unknown situations, adrenaline

i got clocked on MT Washington in rain 107 mph.

ok ok i had to barging too.
Side note i cant wrap my mind around AutoX either.
Not a hater though, just after couple events, i dont see the point. that is very personal opinion of mine.
It's just their thing. I understand the convenience. Well, except when they travel. I'd just run a kart. They think we're crazy for putting all the time and money into our cars to do unsanctioned effects (hpde) or risking a high-speed crash (especially if a car is still being paid on), etc. They don't say much about the full-on road racing events.
I guess the same could be said about drag racing. All that money into a car to go straight for a few seconds. LOL

Well theres really three types of AutoXers. The new guys, Try hards, and run what ya brung. Once you move to one of the later groups you'll probably never understand the other group.
I'm in that group that has an AutoX only car (also in the NW) that's just trailered around. I love the competition and friends, but I especially love trying to manage a car that pulls over a 1g in all directions (braking, turning, accel..). I care about acceleration and jerk, not velocity. So on track is fun an all, but 4th gear accel is boring compared to 2nd gear. And being able to push past 10/10s without worry is much more exciting to me.

don't get me wrong, I enjoy autox, but I enjoy doing other things with my car too... sounds like you also track your car. or do you not track it anymore? the topping out at 120-130 is one of the reasons I didn't want a very powerful car for my track car. and I also like passing cars with double+ hp over me

the thing that gets me about blowing that much money on an autox only (and I mean strictly autox, nothing else) car is seat time. I mean blowing 70k+ on a car (still thinking that M3) for a car you can enjoy 3-6 minutes on a weekend, or 6-12 on a double header weekend, think about price per minute on that
don't get me wrong. we used to drag Hondas, just for the challenge, but we weren't ruining cars with a ton of potential. Japanese people must absolutely hate us LOL.
as for AX vs track days, i can run Buttonwillow for $100 per day vs. $30-45 for AX. maybe if my "local" track was more expensive, i'd AX more. but $1.25 per minute of seat time > $13.33 per minute. i'll say that doing one helps with skills for the other, though. AX has helped me learn the car's limits and built confidence in driving more aggressive. it's also helped my hand/eye coordination and trained my brain to work faster. HPDE is slow-mo in comparison. that's a really good thing, for me as i feel more composed. HPDE has helped me recognize what lines to take at AX and how the car will react to certain input (autox can happen so fast, i don't really get a chance to pay as close attention to things like that). i did track days for a few years before trying AX, so that's why i feel it helped me there.

I sorta disagree on the Evo drag racing. In America we had DSMs with 4G63s that could be made to handle ok but rarely did it ever fit in any kind of competitive class. The 4G63 itself on the other hand could make a ton of power at different levels of build. Evo's just became the new hot chassis that had the motor but with more stout components. I personally don't see any issue with drag racing it.
That said, Drag racing is dumb :P

don't get me started on taking some of the world's best-handling cars and turning them into drag race vehicles. FDs, Evos, GTRs... i just don't get it. of all the cars that can go fast, in a straight line, for LESS... but they decide on those. they take away everything the cars were meant to do... and do a bunch of stuff there aren't cut out for.

as far as Japanese people hating us, drag racing was huge in Japan in the 90's to early 2000's... they had some really fast drag cars there too
