Agreed, love daily driving my civic right now and I wouldn't mind upgrading to this for a daily, just glad they decided to bring over the type R

exactly, this would be a great DD with occasional autocross use.

Can we talk about the new 2016 turbo civic SI?? Because I'm seeing that as way more value for money. And it looks really good to me

Yes. Rumor is it will be a detuned version of the type r 4 cylinder turbo. Power is rumored to be 280hp. I do hope this happens. It would actually make Honda relevant again imo.

I am happy for the honda camp. surprised theres not more high fives goin on. honda made 2.0 turbo in a superfun chassis. doesnt get better than that. I bet the type r will end up being super expensive . like 40-45k for at least the first year.

Keep in mind its 33k euro's in Europe.
I wouldn't think Honda would sell something so expensive, Mendel stated the CTR would not have a volume cap... I think likely mid 30's for N.America, basically +$10k over the SI model.

It's unfortunate its FWD, however, it does beat AWD and RWD models of the same and much higher class with its ring time. Its a very fast FWD machine on a circuit.
Of course for the aftermarket, the first 2 gears would be completely worthless and most of 3rd. If its the same as the euro model for power 306/300 from the factory, 500bhp wouldn't be to far away.

40k+ for a Honda Civic would be a tough sell I think. How many 30-40 somethings who grew up in the 90's-2000's and drooled over the Type R are actually going to spend that much for a Civic.

if these 2 statements are true, the Si is where its at for the civic... a fwd civic in the 30's is a hard sell over the upcoming Focus RS (assuming its also gonna be in the 30's)

The Type R will undoubtedly have extra chassis stiffening and suspension upgrades over the Si. Sure you will be able to add hp to an Si easy enough, but there is a lot more to making it a well handling car. Plus the Type R will hold its value better.
