track car suggestions / discussion

although one excuse that had some weight to it was the video was done when the DC5 was just introduced and it wasn't quite figured out yet in the aftermarket...
haha, yeah, I brought that up (with link) in the RSX forum... just about got crucified along with hearing every excuse in the book

I thought I saw a stock/stock comparison, but it's been a while. Maybe not LOL.
I know my R was the most fun (though not my fastest) car I've ever driven on a road course.
oh really? think you can find that vid again? the only one I've seen were with both modified...
When the new CTR comes to the states it is going to open a lot of eyes as to what a fwd car can do.
VW is also considering making a club level Golf racer that will be fwd http://www.dpccars.com/blog/new-widebody-vw-golf-tcr/

Boring on the street maybe. But judging by the Nürburgring video, I don't see how anyone could be bored at the track. Think this guy is bored -->
Personally, I prefer a car that is not full of drama.

and of course its fun to drive on track. you can have fun with any car on track, but a fun car is still more fun on track then a boring/numb car on track... and for the price that the new CTR is going to be, you can buy and modify an EK or DC2 to be faster and still have money left over to buy a pretty decent daily... and those will be more fun on and off the track
just my 2cents
You really prefer feeling fast to being fast? The new CTR will run laps around an ITR.
Fastest "feeling" car I have ever been in was a Thunderbird with lazyboy suspension. On acceleration it felt like you were going to tip over backwards. In reality though, the car was pretty slow.
Some guys prefer Harley to Ducati I guess.

Maybe I misunderstood. To me, a car feels fast when its on the edge of control. Even if that edge happens at a slower speed. Where a faster stable car can feel (and even look) slower.
For instance, my Evo feels way slower than my old FD Rx7, but is faster around a track.

I also prefer feel over objective results. I'm not racing for money, I do it for fun. That's why I like my Miata so much; it's slow as *****, but feels like you're driving 10/10 all the time.
correct and fixed. thanks for the heads up. LOL.
i once saw a video where the ran the 2 vs 5 and the 2 still won. what a great car the DC2R is.
well, yeah but, to be fair, they are typically really lightweight and don't need that much power. at one time i had 350whp and it was manageable with a gentle right foot LOL.
other than that, they turn really fast lap times with only 200-220whp or so.
i can definitely see how a FF car would not be furn for ya, though. it doesn't suit your driving style. i'm a driving *****, so i don't mind LOL. i've tracked/autoxed Neons, Integras, Mustangs, Evos, Miatas, RX-8s, and some other stuff i can't remember. i liked them all for different reasons. Figuring out a FF car and beating "faster" cars is a huge rush for me.
i do plan to own another '98 ITR one day. it was just too enjoyable of a car to not own another LOL.

Streets of Willow, I was watching some kind of late 80s CRX thing, I don't even know. There was a very aggressive R35 GTR on the track and an Evo X, both kept overcooking it in the corners, sliding all over the place, letting AYC/AWD sort it out. The CRX wasn't merely "chasing" them, no, it was bullying them, on their *** the whole time, screaming and buzzing, never backing off.
Also, "feels fast at slow speeds" is not what I mean by a fun to drive car... a really fast car (and one that doesn't necessarily feel on the edge and gonna kill you the whole time) can also be fun as *****, usually is, and on the contrary, like that thunderbird with lazyboy suspension can be slow and feel fast and not be much fun...
the new CTR is fast, there's no question about that. but based on all the feedback I've seen from people that have driven one, it seams to be one of those fast but not fun cars.
