Here's a nice one.....3 races 03 SRT-4 vs 03 Evo

Tristar: Then why is everyone drag racing them? LOL
1.) EVO is not a drag car

2.) That movie is bull****. "slightly modded" and it pulls bus lengths on an evo. Riiight.

1) If the Evo is not a drag car then why are they're all these "kill" stories about people drag racing an Evo? Why is the most modified Evo 8 in the U.S. pushing 600hp (Al) and running 12's? Why is everyone modifying it to BECOME a drag car?

2) If it is not a drag car then why doesn't everyone AutoX or Rally it? Oh that's right you'd probably crash the car on the first hairpin turn on gravel in a rally or you don't want to mess up your Volks or Advans in an AutoX. Why do all the "vendors" post dyno sheets and 1/4 times and trap speeds if your all about non-drag racing.

3) Slightly modded means bigger injectors and an ECU re-flash it's called Mopar Stage 1

If you can't take the heat then stay out of the kitchen. Geez some people get so **** when they realize that the Evo isn't the fastest car out there.

One reason is anyone can drag race, its cheap and about every place in the country has a track close by. Not all people have access to a track such as Mid Ohio, Road America, ect.

Other people get very defensive when they realize they drive a neon that can only go mildly fast in strait lines.

Again, if I wanted to run fast 1/4's, I wouldn't take an evo or a neon. I would just get some cheap slightly used f-body and tear everyone a new ***. Have fun with the neon

it is much cheaper to modify a car to go fast straight, it is when you have to balance power, suspension and driver skill that gets expensive for road courses.

In this country most people still have the old mentality of drag race to prove things as access to tracks are hard and almost impossible to compare across tracks.

I agree any car may or may not be faster than another but there is always another car faster than whatever you choose.

Both nice cars, though made for slightly different purposes (Evo has it's heritage in rally racing, though many will never take it that direction that is where it came from, and the srt-4 was made just to go fast, which it does).

So to argue which is faster by choosing 1 or 2 examples is impossible.

Remember opinions are like *******s, everyone has one and most stink.

Well said, Vince.

IMO, unless a number of cars from both groups (SRT-4 and EVO) are tested under the same condition repeatly to get an average; otherwise, dyno result should only be treated as a reference.

IMO, if you are happy with whatever you're driving, then you've picked the right car. No matter you're driving an EVO, SRT-4, Sti or whatever, there will always be some other cars that are faster than the one you're driving.

So far, this discussion is heading to the right direction. I'd like to urge everyone to tone it down a bit and keep this civil thread alive.

Cheers.

I own an SRT-4. Unfortunatley it is only rear wheel drive. In that particular video that SRT has been highly moded including NOS.

Highly modded? I doubt it, just boltons, boost up, and tuning, I mean 109MPH trap is quite fast but not NOSed and ighly modded, just what these cars do (with traction)
