1) If the Evo is not a drag car then why are they're all these "kill" stories about people drag racing an Evo? Why is the most modified Evo 8 in the U.S. pushing 600hp (Al) and running 12's? Why is everyone modifying it to BECOME a drag car?

Bad driver maybe?? A couple of Evo's here in Texas running 12's and have no where near 600hp. Also I have yet to see a stock SRT4 beat a stock Evo 8, and I attend many street races through out the week (not too proud of that considering my age). I have seen a couple of stage 1 SRT4's beat again Stock Evo's but not stock for stock. I love both cars but it seems as if the Evo is the target for every wanna be ricer out there now a days. My buddy has one and he can't stand the attention he gets from would be drag racers at stop lights or on the freeway. Is this what I have to look forward to when I get my Evo or Sti?? Maybe I should just go ahead and get the G35sc and avoid all that mess. Any who drive safe (ha ha ha)!

Hi all, my first post here.

I'm am the previous owner of an '03 SRT-4 and the current owner of an '04. I'll get you guys an unbiased dyno as soon as I break the new car in and find a place to run it. Personally I know the SRT-4 is fast but I (and many others like me) fully acknowledge the Evo as a far superior all around sports car.

I browse Ringer', E46, SRT, Evo and 350 forums and I've noticed that the owners of higher priced cars usually bash the SRT-4 because of its Neon roots but I have to tell you that overall I'm very impressed by the maturity expressed on this board. Hopefully I can learn and contribute in areas other than comparison and get to know everyone.

Cheers,

Will

take it easy,

first of all it is on a DynoJet; my Vishnu stage 1 put 311 to the wheels on a Dynojet - There is no way that I am putting 311 to the wheels! I have heard from reliable sources, that Dynojet's are very, very generous!

But more importantly - what does it matter?

I personally think the SRT is a pretty good car. With soo much power that it really should be a RWD or AWD. but I respected it. Everytime I go on the SRT forums, I see nothing but disrespect for the evo. So if you want to repect from this place, you have to start showing respect at your home forum.....not to just start **** in someone home...

Who are you referring to? Also you can't expect anyone to control what people say on a forum they browse if that's what you mean. Maybe I should go back and read the whole thread again because I have no idea what you're talking about.

Which car is faster??? I don't know, depends on driver, track condition, octane rating of gas, etc.

But I like Evo because it is a better car.

Comparing SRT to Evo is like comparing Evo to Skyline. Sure some Evo's go faster than some Skylines. But at the end of the day, most will agree that skyline is just a technologically superior car if money is no object(Evo might be more bang for buck). If Al's Evo is faster than a stock skyline, it still doesn't change anything about which car is "better."

So in the same way, no matter how many videos(SRT winning vs Evo) are out there, Evo is technologically superior of the two between SRT and Evo. One or more particular SRT will be "faster" than Evo but it still won't make SRT as whole a "better" car.

Btw, I really like SRT too. And I don't even own Evo. So I'm not talking trash out of owner's pride. If I had space in my garage, I'd buy them both. So, don't misunderstand me and think I'm trashing SRT. It's still the fastest production FWD car ever!!!

This is borrowed from Sport Compact Car's 8 Great Rides For Less Than $30k (Sep 2003). That's the same issue in which they pitted the Evo against the 911, M3, and Audi S4. At the time the 2003 Neon had a claimed hp figure of 215.

270 @ the wheels on a stock SRT-4 is definitely false. I don't think I've even seen a modded SRT break 270 @ the wheels hp wise. Torque is another story.

I dynoed 225.3 hp 228.9 tq back a few months ago when my car had 1500 miles and only had AEM intake. Torque was low for some reason and my guess was because they dynoed in 3rd gear instead of 4th.

Going this Saturday to dyno again. Have added some goodies since then.

I'm not sure if I'm going with the LSD. I'll probably go with the Mopar Stage 2 when it comes out in 2 months. Sucks that I got to scrap my Stage 1 though.

Yes, but stock for stock, it IS faster than the SRT-4. Stop trying to paint the picture otherwise.

Ya I like srt-4's but some of there owners are ridiculous. Those srt-4 beating evo vids are fake, one of the videos is from a srt-4 car and its stock and passes a stock evo like its standing still, another one you see the evos tach and its standing still at like 4k, why would you fake a video like that? Ive heard srt owners saying there hanging with new maseratis, common
