Cool video, "slightly modded" my ***. I can run and keep up for longer than that. love the EVO, like the SRT4.
Stop *****ing evo owners, your car isnt the 1/4 mile king, thats not what it was built for! SRT4 is great for straight line racing, EVO is great for dem twisty tracks. Tuning potential for the EVO is much better, you can only go so far with FWD.
Stop comparing these cars, they are hardly in the same class, the SRT4 is a great inexpensive car, but as they say the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!

If you own an Evo and say "Who cares it's a neon" is one thing. But if you own an NSX and say " Who cares it's an Evo", it just doesn't work. The Evo is a much higher ended car than a neon with a longer race history. Where as the Evo is the same as if not better than the NSX. It's as if you were to own a Viper and say "Who cares, it's a Lamborghini"
Cars like the Evo and SRT-4, with very high potential engine output, get to the point where you have too much power for the rest of the car to handle. With Evos, the limit seems to be 550 whp (with stock internals, tranny, etc). Now it seems like SRT-4 tuners have found the limits of those cars. The engine might be good to 400 whp or even more but if the tranny, suspension, frame, etc can't handle it all that power is useless. And I haven't even gotten into traction.
What most people don't realize is that PVO built the srt with very strong parts. The bottom end, clutch and tranny can hold a lot of power. Read here.
Of course with anything comes a limit. And yes eventually with major power increases into the 400-500 hp/tq range some parts such as the clutch and axles will need stronger units (PVO has already addressed this). I have faith in the transmission.
Traction is already an issue in a very mildly modded state (such as myself) and gets even worse when your pushin 400 lbs of tq at the wheels. Front wheels that is.
However that is what the aftermarket is for. Upgraded engine mounts, Mopar LSD and stickier wider tires should surely help out some.
Unfortunately we aren't blessed with AWD so we gotta "work with what our mama gave us".

No matter how much power and how strong the engine is in the SRT, it's FWD. Launch that thing and have no control of your front end. It will go where it wants until traction hooks up. Still a nice car for 20K. I'd rather have a less powerful RWD.
