Doesn't work for me because of codec crap. It might work for you.

Stage 2 Kit? Lmao. Where did you get that from? The SRT-4 had an upgraded compressor wheel, 3" turbo-back, and Rage 15 PSI WGA, with maybe a few more insignificant odds and ends. He had his MBC off so he wasn't even running his full boost. I think it wasn't working properly.
But it's true, the outcomes didn't suprise me. The SRT-4 was modded and the Evo was stock, as well as the owner couldn't drive and the SRT-4 owner could. That's one hell of a beating.
This topic is way old, btw.
What is even more lame, that this bickering ... is that I've read every post in this dreaded 8 page thread. I've got no comment ... except that none of the srt-4 lovers seem to agree that the vid was off. .... in which case this srt-4 should be postin viper/lambo/ferrari spankin vids soon ... cant wait.
Test drove an 04 SRT4 last week
Well, as a previous mildly modded Evo owner I was ready to be un-impressed with the SRT4. One of my friends manages a local dodge dealership and while I was in looking at the new Durango he threw me the keys to a new 04 SRT4. I guess the 04 has bigger injectors, and a quaife LSD as upgrades this year.
Anyway, when I got into the car I thought"very supportive seats, but overall a pretty cheap feeling interior". The seats definitely have better lateral support than the USDM Evo's though, which I guess is some kind of consolation.
Starting the engine the car really has a great deep tone. So I take off in the car for a 10 minute warm-up, and once I got it warmed-up I started to open-it up a bit. Again I am thinking this thing is going to be a dissapointment, but I gotta tell you that friggin thing really runs hard. Very little lag and a nice broad power band. There is no doubt in my mind that from a roll on the highway it is every bit as strong as a stock Evo. Btw- This isn't ment to start a flame war, just a past Evo owner giving honest feedback.
The other thing that totally surprised me was the lack of torque steer. The quaife diff really has things sorted-out nicely for a FWD off the showroom floor. Brakes were also much better than I had expected. I assume that they wouldn't last long under hard use, but they do haul the car down immediately and dramatically.
Actually driving the car reminds me a lot of the Evo. Definitely not a quiet cockpit environment., but certainly not a drony one either. Nice tight shifter throws, and well-spaced gearing. The biggest detractor was the suspension, which to me felt spooky when mated to all of that fwd power. Too tall and too tippy with not enough grip, this is specifically where the Evo rates a 9.5 and the SRT4 only a 5.5 on a scale of 10.
Its always fun to test drive the competition to really know how they stack-up by comparison. In this case, the 04 SRT4 has left me impressed far more than anticipated. Considering the low cost of the car and the ultra-low cost of mods, this is a car to watch for with some level of respect.
Hope all is going well for the Evolutionm.net subscribers, I miss participating in the board.

Is the aftermarket support for the Neon as readily available as for the Evo? Some cars, like my Altima, have next to no one to go to for aftermarket performance upgrades. My next toy (I'm trying to buy a used Evo from a member of this site right now) has to have a good variety of performance choices.
Also, I'm wondering how the Neons motor would hold up to hp increases....

yea i was also surprised when i drove my friend's srt4, it was fast, but the handling was a little lacking.
and the srt4's engine includes forged pistons and piston rods so i think it'll take a decent amount of boost

The SRT-4 has one hell of an engine. If you can, there's an SCC from a few months back and they delve deep into the bowels of the 2.4L motor and it is a HORSE. Built to make horsepower from its core. The only they dislike was the integrated manifold/turbo setup. What the Neon really needs is an image overhaul (i.e. a new freaking name) and a real suspension. That and on a more aesthetic end, smaller wheels.
i am mitsubishi through and through; however, the srt-4 dollar for dollar is the better b line vehicle. you have to decide what you want. the heritage, great handling momo wheel, recaro seats,etc.... or a 13 second box.imo
