The only they dislike was the integrated manifold/turbo setup. What the Neon really needs is an image overhaul (i.e. a new freaking name) and a real suspension. That and on a more aesthetic end, smaller wheels.

Comon its easy to see whats goin on here! The evo driver was hesitant even in the first place to run! Obviously he's timid to really push the evo and the way he sees it... he got free gas money from the dumbass so why waste it!? if you ask me the SRT-4 is the one that got screwed!
2 things which wouild keep me from buying it:
1. Rear Crank Windows
2. The long shifter - just looks really stupid and doesnt feel right to me
I have a good friend that has one and its quick, but those two things just kill it for me.

Boofreakingya. Great find. They essentially took the SCC article and wrapped it in HTML.

Edit: Mis-read pjal84's reply at the end of an ugly depressing day. It always feels good to wake up with a foot in your mouth!
My sincere apologies pjal84!

You do realize I was genuinely excited about that link don't you? After spouting about that article to all the folks who simply bash on the Neon for (insert whatever reason here), I can point them to the link and say "That's all that matters in the end." Regardless, still a great link.

My apologies if thats the case....it just looked like you were saying "big deal, this is old news...... who cares" . I did have a really bad day yesterday so my apologies regardless, as I am typically not that thin-skinned. Also see edit above!

loj68....As an owner, have you had time to find any major weak points in the car? With the Evo, the stock clutch certainly comes to mind as a possible weak link depending on how you drive the car. I have heard the SRT4's motormounts are one possible issue, and , and I just wondered if the SRT4 has any other areas of concern? I really like the car a lot, and if I could upgrade the suspension a bit, I might seriously considered picking one up.
Dodge is not sophisticated or stylish in their approach, but they really do support the whole mod thing much better than any other marque. They can really pull out all of the stops when throwing together a performance special like the SRT4, thats for sure.

Is the aftermarket support for the Neon as readily available as for the Evo? Some cars, like my Altima, have next to no one to go to for aftermarket performance upgrades. My next toy (I'm trying to buy a used Evo from a member of this site right now) has to have a good variety of performance choices.
Also, I'm wondering how the Neons motor would hold up to hp increases....

imagine Mitsubishi releasing Stagee power upgrades via Ralliart and still within the bounds of the warranty...? Same goes with Subaru with a Prodrive or even teh Cobb tuned cars that are warrrantied in the past (although more so outside of the US)
now that is cool...

really? You'd overlook all that performance cuz of rollup windows in a seat that you won't even sit in? And you can get a short shifter with urethane bushings for $100 and it's a 30 minute install. I would have still got the SRT even if all the windows were crank....I actually wish they all were....saves weight and it's less to **** up. I've never been a fan of power anything inside a car really.......no power seats, windows, mirrors, or doors is fine with me.
