sport compact car did a dyno of the srt4, when it was rated at 215... it pulled 223 hp at the wheels... i don't remember what issue though... i just remember being pretty damn impressed.

 

no man, there's a dyno attached to it, see the hp peak graph, over 250 whp

 

no possible way its making that much tq and hp stock...

 

Those neons are quick, It sucks that when I get my evo though that I have something to worry about.

 

One of my friends just smoked some dude driving it from the dealership. Well my friend's integra is turbocharged,intercooled, and all them other goodies done to it.

 

I went drag racing the other night and there were 2 red Srt-4's, a WRX sti and a WRX. No Evo's Anyway I just wanted to say the SRT-4's looked fairly new like they had just come off the dealer lot.

I think they are nice cars, better looking than people have given credit. Maybe in another life I would have owned one but I like my challenge of my car right now.

Sorry I was too busy with my own car to see any of them run but I am sure they were fairly quick. The only car I was interested in besides my own was a red Supra that I saw make one pass. I think the 1/8 mile time was like 8.64secs. Anyone know what this translates to in the 1/4?

SRT-4's are awesome. I say sell your Lancer and buy one. Add a few $$$ to the SRT-4 and you'll be making STI's, WRX's and Evo's eat your dust in the 1/4.

3 Dyno's for "PROOF" Actual Wheel Horsepower. All stock, 1000km's after break-in. On the last run we sprayed the IC.

YES they are under-rated, for 2 reasons:
1) To fool insurance companies which go by "Manufacturer Specifications". It's not "jipping" anyone, everyone on both sides of the sale comes out happy. Only people being "jipped" is the insurance company.

2) To put fear in the hearts of Evo, WRX, Stang, 350Z et al owners. Dodge under-rated all they're muscle cars in the 60's and 70's. Dodge is doing it again. GREAT idea, because fools who think "he he it's just a Neon with 230 crank" get OWN3D in front of they're girlfriend, when they find out first hand that the SRT-4 makes close to 230 WHEEL horsepower.

Okay, now that we're on the Nth number thread dealing with the Super Neons, I'm gonna close this one. If you want, try looking through the several existing threads and if the concern really does interest you that much, refer yourself to an SRT-4 forum.

 

I have seen a dyno on a stock 2004 and they are not even close to 270 whp. Just because someone on a forum said its true does not make it legit. Consider your source and use logic.

If the srt-4 had 270 whp it would be faster than an EVO. It is not faster than an EVO therefore it is not 270 whp

I love spool: EVO drivers do not fear srt-4's. Engineering wise the srt-4 is very inferior, except for the turbo that is made by mitsubishi. Evo drivers own evos because of the control. The fact that the EVO is fast going foward is a bonus.

 

Buddy learn how to read a Dyno.....that's 228 WHP and 252 WTQ.

BTW SRT-4's ARE faster than Evo's.....go to srtforums.com and watch a few vids....there's several where a stock SRT-4 beats a stock evo and a modded srt-4 beats a modded evo.

Finally put your money where your mouth is....show up at Englishtown in the Spring and we'll see what your Evo is made of.

I love how all these young EVO / import enthusiasts feel the need to compare cars to an EVO based on 1320 feet of acceleration. The EVO is not a drag car, never has been and never will be.
