let me be the first to introduce you to the CAPS LOCK button...

anyway...SRT-4 a slow pig....13.9 1/4 mile and 0-6 in 5.3....(not to mention $10K less than the EVO) thats slow? interesting....

also, stock block of an SRT-4 can support well over 800 HP without any internal changes as such.....

Dont get me wrong, I think the EVO is a great car...lots of power...
I am not as prone to dis a car just because I dont drive or have it....I give EVOS mad props...

ignorance is bliss

C&D got a 13.9 for the SRT which was a lucky run. they are low 14 sec cars. At the track, I have not seen one SRT run 13s even with a stage 1. They are strong from a roll, but dogs off the line.

You have to ask yourself, do I want a FWD car, AWD, or RWD. Decide that before you pick your car. The Evo is legendary around the world and will be a collectors car in years to come. Mustangs and Neons are a dime a dozen. I might see 1 Evo all week driving around my city of 1.5 million. You can see a mustang at any given traffic light.

well, as far as the RSX thing......the rsx makes close to 280whp with the jackson race kit, so theres no need to worry about a rebuild.....i have owned many hondas and i now they have tough engines. as far as the mach1 compared to the cobra though......the mach1 has a lot of different components used to make its 305hp n/a, as opposed to the cobras 390 sc'ed hp. i was just thinking the money thing wouldnt allow for me to get a cobra, cause in that price bracker i would rather have an STi.

i am basically looking to stay under 30K, and i am sure the more im under 30K the happier my wife will be, even though she stresses to me to get whatever i want so i keep it for a while. i have driven the SRT4 many times, and its always a joy to drive. the only complaint i have is that the viper style seats dont hold people like me with a wider ***.....im 6'3 225lbs, and i have to kinda squeeze into those seats!! the STi has **** for leg room if any of you have ever sat in one. the EVO has good leg room though......and i can get one through a friends discount for like 25,600 without sunroof. i wish my wife would tell me i have to get a 4-door or something like that and that would narrow things down a bit, but these are all great cars with tons of potential. i think this is going to come right down to the last day of school before i can make a final decision!! thanks for all the input though!!

let me be the first to introduce you to a spelling and grammar book...

anyway...13.9 slow? interesting...who makes the motor? NOT mitsu...the turbo is mitsu, but the ENGINE is not...

(ps - you sound like your 12, do you even own a car?)

also, EVO a collectors car? Yes, you will see NEONS all over the place, but not SRT-4s....There are none in my town or surrounding city for 15 miles...even then, there arent many....also, they are a limited production car in the dodge SRT line....not just a mass produced vehicle. SRT-4 produced by PVO, same group who builds the SRT-10 (Viper)....just a little input...

the SRT-4 isnt a bad car at all for the money........but s aying it can handle 800hp on stock block if stretching it.....ALOT.. ive seen 500hp SRTs but not 800, and im seriously doubting ill ever see an 800hp SRT4 on stock internals......i'm willing to bet alot on it...

you have a kid on the way so cross out the mach 1 (two doors suck) if you are a all out drag guy get the srt4 (It's a dodge it will go fast for cheap). If you want to play with auto x and in the snow get the evo.

just my 02. cent

again...let me introduce you to spelling and grammar...

first off - the info about how many SRT-4s in my area was in response to another post - not yours....

second - im 22, with 2 brand new cars to MY name and MY credit...I dont need to get into a pissing contest with you...I have a college degree, a good job, and know how to spell...so I have no need to argue with you - congrats on owning 4 cars....

I have no complex about the SRT-4, so bash away. I own it and love it. I also love the EVO, just couldnt justify the $30K, I have other things more important in life like marriage and family...so continue flaming away...just want the others here to know I respect and love the EVO as well...great car, lots of power....

To the response of the original post, If you are having children...definitely EVO or SRT-4...as both have space for child seats in the back....4 door definitely better than 2 in that situation! Best of luck to you!

seem's like for ur application (straight line) get the mach1 or '03 cobra.

The evo will SHOOT out of the hole, while the mach1 & srt-4 are spinning ... but the mach1 will prolly catch up toward the end.

It really is just personal preference, i'm a firm believer that ANY car can be made to go fast. but who cares if after the drag run u look at ur car and u dont like the pos starin back at u.

i donno srt-4, nor mach1.

Evo Pro's
awsome handling (donno what to say if u dont like it ... y do more capable drivers than urself like it and praise it so much?? hmm maybe u cant drive??)
w/ relatively few mods evo makes great power strides
lotta aftermarket support for all ur needs
HANDLING!!!!
Potential

Evo Con's
Mitsubishi
Not the greatest from roll (only when its stock )

The only pro's the srt-4 & mach1 dont share r the handling. but i've seen quiet a few stangs do very well on autoX's.

the evo is to me the ultimate car for under $80k.. but fortunately we are not all the same!

from the sounds of it, u should get an accord (or similar..) as a daily driver and an '03 Cobra for fun, since you're more into straight line power and less into the excitement of the power through some twisties....
