They know it's fast, but is not an all around performance car. That's the reason so many SRT owners only talk about straight line speed and HP and who they can beat in a stoplight race. I see it all the time, I always get run down by an SRT on the street. They are like a pesky little brother wanting to play.
There is a reason why the Evo is $10,000 more. The SRT is a Neon with a different engine and some interior changes, but it still is a Neon. The Evo is a totally different car than the base Lancer. The only thing they share is the trunk lid, front door skins and some interior dash pieces.
If I had to spend $20K on a new car, I would not get the SRT even though it is the fastest in its price. I'd rather get more quality for my money even though it means a slower car.

Look, this is an EVO forum...and with the attachment like this guy has to his car, referring to it as a supercar, you will get a biased opinion. You want to get REAL information on a car, I would check out reviews and such, because you wont get opinions of car lovers in here, you will get a one sided opinion of all those attached to their beloved EVO.
A Lancer does not equal and Evolution, just as a Neon does not equal an SRT-4. There is just no argument there.

Wow, reading this post sure is frustrating. I feel like I'm in grade school again. C' mon guys, we all love our cars, whatever we drive. We are going to be a little partial to our own cars and defend them, we did spend our hard earned money on them.
But enough stupid back and forth s*%t, Please!
The SRT-4 has my repsect, I ran with one on the interstate and let's just say I didn't smoke him, it was close! Sure the car started out as a Neon, but as we all know our beloved Evo starts as a hum-drum Lancer. Still the Evo and the SRT-4 are different cars and on different levels. As far as the Mach 1, you would be foolish to call it crap! There is no denying the numbers it can produce, no matter how much you hate it.
What we have are three totally different cars, and they cannot be directly compared. Each has their own particular strengths. Even though I try to keep my opinion un-biased, I feel that the Evo is still defiantely the best all-around car. And that includes grocery runs with kids in tow....
Oh and if i misspelled something I DONT KARE!

I'm getting a new car soon and didn't really consider an srt4 before now. But after looking at it and seeing it perform, it has really grown on me. I would only consider getting it if it was a second car (b/c it is so damn cheap). Anyway I just wanted to know what you guys think of it.

For the money, they're fun ... but my actually my driving 'style' would put me into a good handling car. ...
If I had 20k and couldn't afford an EVO or WRX, I'd probably go for a used late model 90s GSR Integra and upgrade the motor, suspension, and put in an LSD.
It all depends on what you want.
...if you could afford $30k for an EVO, its the most fun for the buck currently avaliable.
Cha-ching...$0.02

It is probably the best bang for the buck on the market right now. It isn't for me, but that doesn't diminish the performance and value.
for the $$$ nothing touches it.....period. It has factory supported suspension and engine performance upgrades with tons more on the way. The stock engine and drivetrain can take 400-500hp too. I personally like the exterior and interior styling but if you don't then there's nothing some wing removal and a body kit won't fix......hell, it's not like old Teg's and Civics were lookers.......

... every week you change your mind... just get the evo... you won't regret it
