Mopar will not warantee stage 3 as I have heard. They may install it though. It's for track use/offroad.

For the price, which isn't that great for 22,000 plus tax, financing, you're getting a 12K Neon with 12k in performance mods.

Good luck to those who own them.
mine was $21k out the door. And yes, Stage III is for racing applications only and is not street legal nor warrantied. Also if you wanna see info on people running 12's with Stage I just visit the SRT forums.....plenty of vids and scanned slips of people running these times.

wasnt the 12.04 with a 100 shot? ive been to the srt forums many times most run mid 12's stage 1 plus other mods i doubt stage 2 will be in the 11's with out nitrous unless stage 2 comes with drag slicks. ive also seen alot of ppl complaining about rust.

Yep, my 04 SRT 4 has like 270 miles on it, 30 more and I'll be done with my breakin period. Yes the car is quick for a stock car. its faster than my 190+ WHP Integra GSR, and I always thought that the Integra was fast. This car is even faster, once the boost hits hahah....

By the middle of the summer I'll be running mid 12's on the stock intercooler, stock tires, stock turbo w/o NOS . I'm just saving up for the necessary mods right now....

Not to start a flame war but I dont see to many major mecanical complaints about the SRT. At least I havent seen any thread complaining about the tranny/clutch....

the stock motor can handle 450+ WHP all day long....the 04 trannies are a bit stronger than the 03 trannines, the 04 tires hook up better than the 03 tires for dragging.

go to srt-4 forums and check out the dealer and car trouble cant think of the exact name but its 27 pages long. and about 5 are dealers being you know dealers. the rest is car trouble. if i owend a car company i would put a weak clutch in them to fwd, rwd or awd. hot rad magazine had an article on an awd talon that did the 1/4 in 8.6 and he said he doent launch higher then 5500 rpms any thing higher will destroy the drive train. no 1 will admit i bet but alot of ppl launch both at redline why i dont know to much wheel spin is bad unless ur in a burn out contest.

niether car is pefect but before i bought my sti i went to other forums to see the bad things about cause they always exagerate it 100 times to bad i didnt wait a month to buy then i would have known all the early det problems and engine management trouble. all though element seems to have that taken car of. o well im happier with my evo already and have only had it a month then i was with my sti.

stage 4 wrx black sold for silver STI, STI stock traded on White EVO.

Test Drove the STI Today

I finally got around to testing driving the STI today. The first thing I noticed was the nice rumble from the boxer at idle (meaner than a stock EVO, but not as mean as an EVO with a Buschur Turboback Exhaust). The clutch is awesome on this car as is the throttle response. This is the easiest AWD car I've ever driven in terms of getting into gear (especially in lower gears). The gear box is ok, fairly short throws, but a bit notchy and I prefer shorter shifters. The powerband is much more linear than the EVO's, but not quite as exciting IMHO. It doesn't "feel as fast", but it probably is at least as quick as a stock EVO. It feels like a six cylinder with a little extra kick. The steering in the car is awful, very slow and lacks any feel. It is actually very similar to the WRXs I have driven. The suspension is also noticably softer than the EVO and the car just doesn't feel as nimble as the EVO. Its certainly a nice car, but not what I would have been looking for (I bought the EVO last year).

The S2000 would be my second choice with the 350Z and STI being a "pick em" for 3rd. Of course, I'm not including the Elise in this analysis.

The only thing I like better is the STI Gauges. They look like Defi replicas. Very nice clean look when powered on and off.
