Mk V Supra - My Evo's Replacement?
It's a also nice to beat trailered cars (and pass/wave at them on the highway)

I like the Supra and it's at or near the top of my list for my next car, but I'm still struggling to reconcile what I'm reading in this thread with what I'm seeing in real-world results. Some of the anecdotes here make it sound like the Supra will keep up with GT3s with little more than tires and aero and stock power. If that was the case, I'd expect to see the Supra cleaning up against similarly-prepped Evos. Like I said: I like both cars, but objectively it feels like anecdotes here are slowly drifting into hyperbole.
My point was comparing Supra versus Evo in a similar context.

Well-driven GT3's do 1:56 or so at Thunderhill, stock. GT3 RS's do 1:53 or so. GT4's do 1:58's or so.
One guy with a Supra, stock power, coilovers, tires, aero, SPL bits has done repeatable 1:57's and he is still getting used to the car after tracking a Type R. See video below.
Another Supra owner, stock power, eibach springs on stock struts, aero, tires has done repeatable 1:56's. Better driver than above obviously.
My Evo with 520whp, a billion mods, and headaches, I got down to a 2:00 before I moved. I know it had a 1:58 or so in it but I never had the chance to prove it before I moved to the East Coast.
Those are my data points. Not hyperbole. That is what helped me make up my decision to purchase a Supra. Also, keep in mind this is a platform that is barely only two years old.
Personally, I care less about TA events for data points because I don't do them and I didn't buy a car to do 1-2 flyer laps and then call it a day. I track my cars almost for full 20-25 min sessions and as many as I can during the day. I also keep my cars far away from being tin cans.

Well the Supras passengers seat will be open for you then! Its going to be a while before we get Soso's Evo back out on the track. He decided to go full race car with it.... Going to get his engine out here pretty soon so we can drop the new one in right after. I will bother him to update his build thread so you can see all the cool stuff he has been collecting.
No doubt, Fontana is quick on the main straight into turn one
Thanks for the update on Soso. Been curious wheres he's been or if he still had the EvO? Would love to see his post updated!

Not bad for a 4-cylinder sedan.
Well guys, I finally got to drive my buddies 21 Veloster N. Obviously its in a different class than Supras and Mustangs but if I was in the market for a FWD vehicle, I think it would be the one. The ride is crazy stiff in N mode. Exhaust is loud. The steering is awesome. The only time it had traction issues was in 1st gear (stock tires). Turbo lag is really non existent and it pulls pretty good. I would say it would take a stock Evo from a roll. Fun little car for what it is. Honestly would be a good daily.

If you liked how the veloster drove, you would LOVE the Type R. I honestly think it's one of the last pure communicative drivers cars.

That said, his Supra is def NOT a simple build. It's a full TA car.
