Well, I don't think a Honda should be running next to Porsches But I've seen many VW's at them, and I go in a Benz sometmes, too. They might just be German Elitests, who knows?

I don't think many even try, but at TSW, usually they don't care-- I've seen eclipses go in to look at them, but if you wanna go on the track usually you gotta pay I do believe. Shrug.

As for JapEater, I can't believe you act like that. (Never have I seen a Porsche owner act like a 12 year old...) But I guess there is a first for everything.

My boyfriend has beat a GT-3 before, barely. He can beat Evos, too, he's done it before. It really does depend on the driver, and of course, mods and whatnot. Please do not make this into a "myc ar can take on your car!" thread. That's lame. Same goes for thye guys that are all "My evo could eat any Porsche!" Because I'm sorry, but I do not think your Evo could beat a Porsche Carrera GT or GT-2 or even the new Turbo S. Not sure about the normal Carrera's, though. And Evo's certianly are no where near to the class standard as Porsche's are.

I've never run an actual PCA event. They're elitists!

I was referring to open track days though. The PCA guys usually show up and act like they own the place.

I guess I haven't been hanging out with the right Porsche owners. When I first started at the track, I let a VW golf pass me who had a roll cage and race suspension and was better in the corners. Then I got more used to the track and left him... Anyway, I consider myself lucky to not have run into the Porsche ****** you guys refer to. I would guess that the attitude is mostly limited to owners of the newer cars.

Quite possible, Yargk. Most of the incidents I recall were with Boxster and newer 911 owners. The old 911 guys are usually pretty cool, and the "vintage" owners (914/924, 944, 968, 930, etc) have been pretty nice (and quite willing to talk about their cars).

IMHO boxsters are gay, I see them and see a person thinking hes cool cause hes got a porsche. When really hes not cool cause hes got a low end cheap porsche.

I say this from experience too, after driving 4 different porsches('85 944, '01 boxster, 97 911 carrera convertible, and an '83 911sc) boxsters are crappy.
My friend who has the 911 carrera and the 911sc had the boxster before he bought the carrera, he had it for less than a month before he sold it and bought the carrera. He let me drive the boxster when he had it, and compared to the other porsches, the boxster just feels cheap.
If youre going to get a porsche, dont get a boxster.

I just wanted to chime in on the Porsche owner thing. Most of the Porsche owners I have encountered have been really courtious and willing to talk. It seems that the Porsche owners that inhibit the chat rooms are the troublemakers. I have most of my problems with M3 owners. These guys just seem to be arrogant and just plain a**holes. Had my folks in the car once coming home from a dinner and an M3 pulled next me wanting to race. I shrugged and said hell no (Im not going to scare the hell out of or endanger my parents at their older age) The guy just kept slowing down and speeding up for a good 20 miles trying to instigate a race. He finally gave up but it was really funny to hear my dad call him an a**hole as well.

To be fair, I have met a lot of nice Porsche guys. Just seems like the rate of bad apples (at track days) is especially high with 911 owners. There haven't been many M3 owners, so they could be worse.

I've had that speed up-slow down thing happen to me a couple times, once in my S2000 and once in my friend's NSX. There really needs to be a universal symbol for "**** off, I don't want to race".

ugh....please read the thread before you post this kinda crap. The Boxster isn't a low end cheap Porsche, it's their mid-engine roadster. Next to the Carerra GT the 911 Turbo is a low end cheap Porsche. The Boxster probably felt cheaper than the 911 because there's the matter of a $40,000 price difference!!!!!! The Boxster does not feel or look cheap anywhere......matter of fact many parts of the Boxster were re-engineered and used on the 996 series 911's and NOT vice versa. Again, all this stuff has already been posted in this thread so please read next time before you post this stuff so don't get owned again by people who ACTUALLY know what they're talking about.

Bottom line is comparing a Boxster to a 911 is dumb....they are not in the same price range and are not even remotely the same kind of car and will both be bought for completely different reasons.

my sister got a 01 boxter did an awesome sound system, exhaust, t1-s, and h&r coilovers. loved the handling but wanted more power. her husband looked into some company on the east coast or something that turbocharged, but reviews said that the reliabilty sucked. anyways she then got a 911 carrera but it handled so crappy compared to the boxter. anyways she sold the carrera and kept the boxter, she did have a set of h&rs for the carrera but not quite sure why she sold it. now she wants power again and is interested in the 997 turbo cab. girls.

anyways, how does the boxter feel cheap? from the inside they're both very similiar and share the same interior design basically. and face it, you know your not going to get the same kind of reliability with porsche then say a ferrari or lamborghini.

I read the posts, and like I said, IMO a boxster doesnt feel like a porsche should feel.

I love Porsches, all except the Boxter S that is. I don't know where the "great sound" comment comes from. They don't strike me as very distinctive at all with their sound. In Atlanta where I used to live, most people who drove Boxster's were snot nosed Yuppies that had no idea about the performance of their vehicle. Top that off with the fact that a good running $23,000 WRX can give them a run for their money, and I just don't get it. I guess there are just different strokes for different folks, so all of you Boxster lovers can have my share. No disrespect intended - just my $ 0.02.

a WRX isn't a convertible mid-engine roadster with 225hp (or 260hp in the "S"). The WRX doesn't offer anything that a Boxster shopper would be looking for. That's like saying you'd rather have a Dodge Ram pickup over an EVO because you can haul 2 tons with the truck and the EVO can't. It's apples and oranges.

With regards to the "sound", that comes from an exhaust. My buddy has an exhaust on his and it has a SWEET, deep rumble. Music to the ears. The SRT is the only car I know of that sounds sweet right outta the box........(flame shield up!!!!)
