Hey guys.. i need help! i wanted to know if smoked headlight overlays are legal in ILINNOIS..mainly.. chicago area.. and the burbs (wheeling).. im thinking of doing my headlights and tails.. im just not sure if its legal..coz i dont want to get pulled over for just a simple mod.. thanks in advanced! answers will be greatly apriciated! thanks!

 

just call your local p.d. and an inspection station. might be legal for one but not another.

 

Yup, you can also check with your local DMV/Sec. of State.

tail lights are fine .. head lamps are probably not.. but should double check

did you think about black housing???

 

If I remember correctly...you must be able to see the tail lights from at LEAST 500 feet. Headlights are illegal no matter what to smoke...that's why everyone is doing the chrome casings black rather then the housing.

ow...thanks guys..actually i knew the answer tha hard way..lol.. me and my brother was pulled over.. for just going 43 on a 35! suck huh? lol then we asked the officer a quick question.. hes said its illegal..coz with the weather hear in chicago..ull need al the light u can get.. thanks again guys!! peace! =)

 

so HIDs technically shouldn't be illegal ....cops are dumb. the whole legal system is screwed up .
