that's what i would've thought too - but no the trooper just gave me a court date - read the instructions on the ticket but it just said that i had to show up and plead guilty - pay a fine (but not sure if there's a probation or supervision involved) or plead not guilty and go in front of the judge/jury ...

if your liscense is from IL then they hold it as bond. If you are from out of state they cannot and should not take it. you still have to pay the fine apear in court or whatever. I had a freind that lives in IN get his taken by a rookie IL cop and it was mailed back to him with a letter of apology from the cop a few days later

I think speeding through a construction site is a must appear violation. I got picked out of a bunch of cars on 88 going 73 through a 45 construction site. They didn't take my license but I had to go to court and plead guilty. Paid the almost 400 fine and got supervision.

That's not bad, a friend of mine few years back paid $1000 plus court fees. I guess the judge didn't like him for some reason.
