yea sorry for the unfortunate events, i hope they are going to be ok. Thats fine i figured there must of been something really important come up. I think I am just going to take it to a shop to get it done today after work, however im really not wanting to pay the 125-150 its probably going to cost me to get it done.

The plus side to taking it to a shop is the lift. Doing the exhaust when you have the car up on stands sucks real bad. Your under there jerking and jarring stuff and it can be one of the scarier things to do as a DIY'er. Plus, the downpipe is a ***** to unbolt from the O2 housing. Air tools are definitely helpful. I'm not familiar with the Greddy DP solution, but if the shop you take it too gives you any problems about the rubber donut, just tell them the DP is designed to match up to the O2 housing without it. In the stock exhaust there is a rubber ring which you probably won't be using with the Greddy DP. Mechanics hate to take parts off and not have a place to put em back on. Its one of those things that causes re-work.

gerth - how much is it going to cost, just curious?

RyanM - I know what you mean about doing it at a shop. But here, most shops don't want to touch this stuff or charge an assload.

I want to do my 02 housing as well which is a bigger PITA! Requires front bumper removal from what some people have said. I might as well get the whole turbo setup off at that point...

There is a tuner shop on Army post that deals mainly with Miata's and Honda's, but I bet they would do the exhaust. Not sure how much they would charge.

Also, if your planning on running a wideband, I would wait on doing the exhaust until after you have it. You'll have to have the exhaust removed again and a bung welded on for the sensor after the fact.

O2 housing is definitely a PITA, not sure if you'll notice much of a difference for the level of effort involved. I would wait and do a turbo kit. I can't decide what I want to do, I am thinking 3071 kit at this point and calling it a day on mods.

I don't even put the undertray back on anymore, I'm running out of those plastic clips! I need to order a new bag of them from Lancershop.

I already had my DC downpipe welded up 2 weekends ago for a wideband- All TIG, so pretty Turbo kit is an excellent idea. I need to save up 4G's for that, though. No way in the next 2 years, house stuff comes first.

Everybody bags on the ATP turbo kits, but I don't see why the 3071 kit would be a bad idea. The stock manifold is pretty good, the kit itself doesn't look too bad. I've already tried one of the uber expensive kits and I can't say it was all that great.

I would not take it there........they quoted like 200-300 for a tbe on my dsm. Besides the fact that they are not the most reputable shop in des moines.

There is a wheel/tire shop on 63rd street, the have an evo that they are supposedly working on. I'm not sure of their knowledge, but i would assume it wouldn't be too easy to screw up an exhaust install.

Elite auto is the name of it. Maybe give them a call, and ask how much they would want.

I looked into it a lot, Ryan. The bad rep is true. The turbo is quite laggy. I would definitely think twice about this setup. The exhaust housing is designed to bolt on to the stock manifold and by doing this, a lot was sacrificed. I guarantee that a 3071 using a garrett housing will spool up much faster than the ATP housing. I have talked some knowledgable folks about this as well who are in the business of making turbo kits (not AMS). It is inefficient - much like the sleeper 16G - don't know if you were a DSM guy or not.

I was hell bent on getting it till I did all my research. Not being a fan boie, but the AMS setup is about the best in the market right now...Bushcur and Turbotrix are argubly just as good.

Just my 2 cents. You have had some experiences already, just letting you know what I think and know of.

PS - You should buy the FMIC I have for sale!

I concur with Dustin - Kraft Bloooooows! I would do it myself or trust any yahoo before giving my money up to them.

I would try Terry's on Univ Ave by 8th St. He is a good guy.

I know people who have busted 02 sensor when removing exhausts, so its possible to muck up stuff.

Dustin - I finally made my way over NASIOC Figured its time..

I will second that, Terry is a friend of the family, he does good work, shop is small, but there is a reason that there are so many cars parked out front, he is that busy.

If the ATP blows that bad, I might as well just wait and do the AMS GT37 with a stroker kit. I know I don't want to spend the time and energy troubleshooting whatever the hell is wrong with my current setup. Only thing is I want to send my tranny to teamrip and have it beefed up before I do a GT37. I've been leaning towards the Tilton clutch, still not too many people on EvoM who have had them. I've had an Exedy in a Stealth Twin Turbo that wasn't too bad, but their multi-discs make a lot of noise! I'm hoping to not have to deal with the rattling or the crappy engagement characteristics.
