Cool

The pump was mounted using two heavy machine screws. One drilled through the bracket for the FMIC and the other straight into the frame rail. It was very secure when I was done. If anyone would like higher res photos of the setup PM me an email address to send them to.

In regard to oil temps...use good thick synthetic and change it often put the biggest most efficient cooler you can on there and you should be good. SCCA won't let me so I just change the oil often...gear and engine.

What is the rating of Mitsubishi Dia Queen Super Multi Gear Oil?
Isn't this too thin for Evos (per manual's spec)??
Why does everyone (esp RRE) recommend the BG2's??

I ran this for about 8k miles.. works just fine... until I switch to Penn Syncromesh..
then shifting got smoother but I also start to grind 3rd gear sometimes..

The NorCal distributor (Fleming Distribution) for BG Products told me Syncro Shift II is 75w85.

From BG's site:
BG Syncro Shift® II is a gear lubricant specially formulated for front wheel drive manual transmissions. It does not sacrifice any performance as does engine oil, ATF or conventional gear oil. It provides required thermal stability, low-temperature fluidity, hot rattle suppression, noise dampening at operating temperature, outstanding extreme pressure characteristics, shear stability, smoother shifting characteristics, wear reduction (synchronizer, gears, bearings, shift fork), seal compatibility, and reduced maintenance costs.

www.performanceoilstore.com. Good experience with them and
if you buy a case you get 7% off and free shipping. Almost 165
for case.

i use this exact same fluid! it works great, smooth shifting, lasts pretty good since it's synthetic. it's just repackaged castrol syntorq LT, since castrol doesn't sell it in the states, however, many european race teams run it in their trannies. dodge sells it for the tranny fluid for the diesel truck manual tranny, the NV4500 tranny i think.

hasn't GL-5 been proven to be corrosive to brass parts like synchros?

Well I would think if it's rated for GL4 and GL5 it wouldn't be corrosive. I highly
doubt a company like motul would give it a gl4 rating if it was going to mess
up some gear boxes.

I'm going to double check with one of the U.S. motul distributers to see if it's ok
to use in our car. I can't seem to find a e-mail for motul on there website but
maybe I'm just retarded. From what i've read from little blurbs on the net alot
of people have recommended it for the evo so we will see.

Now I'm paranoid thanks guys...lol

i'll try and find the post by GEARS(jon at TRE)where he states not to use GL-4 and GL-5 rated fluid in the trnny, just GL-4. he says it's like a spark plug company selling you a plug that is good for a 7 or an 8 heat range. he pretty much said there isn't a one size fits all fluid either.

Well not to take anything away from Jon at TRE but he recommened BGII also and it's to thin to run in the MR tranny. Again I know he knows his stuff inside and out but I will need more concrete information other then his opinion.

how about in the manual where it says diaqueen super multi gear 75-85 GL-4 or an "exact" equivilent? that's good enough for me and the reason i searched and searched to find a fully synthetic 75-85 GL-4 to use, i've been using it for around 30,000 miles without a hitch, better than the stock fluid in my opinion.

What are you using? BGII? Have you read the thread where two people using blew 4th gear? Do drive your car on a road course?
