I just bought mine (non-flanged). Thanks again Rick!

(BTW, isn't this cat talk a little off-topic from the original post?)

Yes, but I will just "pretend" to be a stupid noob to try to tie it back in ...
I bought my car with a test pipe and don't have a cat. I need one for STU, right? I am a totaly beginner and far from nationals-level, so I don't need a cat that's supposed to "give me a competitve advantage" etc. unless it's as cheap as a lower performance one. What are the best options?
there now it's back on topic and I am the scapegoat for stupidity.

Wow you guys are insanely competetive ... even the poor cat hasn't been spared scrutiny ... you might as well be running a partially gutted cat!

Anybody have suggestions on 17x9 rims?

I'd like to find a set that's significantly lighter then the 17x8.5 Enkei RPF1's I have (~16lbs). I was going to get Buddy Clubs (~14lbs) but they're impossible to find.

Dymag or TE37-Mag.

Lighter than 16lbs?!? That's already fricken light and anything lighter will be crazy $$$. Just take this into consideration before you blow your wad; the first place STU car this year at Nationals (as well as last year) was running factory 17x8 STi wheels. The second place car was on 21lb CCWs.

Now I'm not saying you won't be a bit faster with lighter wheels, I'm just saying the $$ spent for improved results might be better used for Evo school or just plan going to more events.

A reasonable wheel choice for a 17x9 would be the Wedsport-70's. Tire Rack sells them for about $330 a wheel, they come in at about 17lbs, and they have the correct offset so you don't need to run spacers.

Good point.

I was just checking if I had missed any brands or custom wheels out there. I don't want to spend more then $500/wheel (ie. Volk MAGS). The wheels aren't for me, they're for my co-driver. They could weigh 1lb each and I'd still be mid pack. I'm trying to put together a car that's as prepped as possible in return for a full season of instruction. So in a way these are payment for "school".

I'm just going with some FN01RC's for this year in 17x9. I'll get the uber-wheels next year after my budget heals from the suspension, chassis and exhaust stuff from this year. I figure I've got to learn my car first and then I'll worry about being ultra-lightened once I actually know what I'm doing.
