I don't think so, or at least nobody that I know of. I've contemplated going to a smaller front sway bar but the labor involved to make that change is not something I'm willing to tackle at the moment.

The M3 juust isn't competitive in that class anymore really. Not to mention the fact she never really liked driving it. She always had more fun in my evo when she drove it around town. So she bought her own. She also has damn near an unlimited budget so she is putting all the stuff on her car I wish I could afford to do to mine. Everything from Carbon Fiber Intakes to a Titanium downpipe and cat-back. The car is going to be way better than the driver that's for sure. The worst part is I've already asked if Jerry and I can drive it this year and nats and I got a resounding "No, it's my car not yours. You have an evo!" oh well, back to my boring old car

Thats what you get for getting her hooked to Auto-x and letting her drive your EVO Ladies in the STUL class better watchout! ... Are you guys still going to be campaigning in STU this year?

Don't know about in STU, but in other classes, yes there are folks with larger front bars. . .

I ran the stocker last year, but am going bigger this year to try to keep the inside rear on the ground. Had to replace the clutch, so I figured while the front subframe is out it's as good of time as any to put the new bar in. . .

I think whether upgrading the swaybar or not will improve the handling of your car depends alot on your specific suspension setup. Even if it makes one car faster, it may not on another car. . .

Here's a bump guys. I've added some info into the beginning part of my thread to get a basic "what to consider" format. Feel free to critique me and correct anything that seems out of whack.

She definatly has more car than driver. She just wants to be competitive I mean c'mon...she's 66 years old (DON'T TELL HER I TOLD YOU!!!). She's in it for the fun of the sport, you know, what we should all be in it for. She made a joke last year about being older than the entire class combined.

Jerry convinced me to spend one more year in STU as much as I wanted to move up. Let me re-phrase that... Jerry TOLD me I was spending one more year in STU.

Mom's car build is pretty much full tilt unlike my car. It'll be interesting to see how it compares really. It's nice having two evos to test product out on though. Hoping by June to have a common set-up on the two cars with just some tweaking on the two to make them fit the drivers. Jerry and I have the same taste in how we want the car to feel which is good. The biggest differences in her car and mine is the suspension. I'm sticking with Steve's stuff (ZZYZX Motorsports) and we are changing the spring rates from last year and adding a sway bar to the front. Mom's car has a sway in the front and rear for now and is running the HKS Hipermax Pro's. The Pro's are a made to order coil-over only. The car spent three weeks at HKS USA getting corner balanced and set-up specifically to her specs. It was interesting to see what they came up with for her in terms of ride height and spring rates. It was nice because it's very similar to what we are doing to my car set-up wise this year too so I feel like we are on the right track if we agree with HKS. Her's though as less camber and a lower spring rate in the rear but identical spring rates in the front. Ride hieghts were slightly lower on the HKS car as well.

A Toledo (Ohio) Pro Solo has now been added to the list. Registration is open.

Have you guys seen this:

DG's Autocross Setup Secrets

The author, Dennis Grant, is EvoM user FarNorthRacing. Interesting stuff...

I'm installing Robispec KWs this weekend. Robi says if use his ride height specs, the cross-corner weights will be very close--the only variable is driver weight. So I was going to skip the corner weighting. Then I read:

Corner Weight Calculator

And he makes the case for equalizing front and rear left/right ratios. I.e., rather than equalizing the sum of opposing corners, you look at ratios of the weights of the front and rear corners and equalize them. E.g., if the 52% of the total rear weight is on the left rear corner, then 52% of the total front weight should be on the left front corner.

Anyone think it'd be worth $150 to try that out?

Interesting logic... but where is the $150 coming from?

That's what I'd have to pay for corner weighting.

Here's a little tidbit on what our STi brethren are up to. This is a national-level competitor, '04 STi with ZZYZX, header, TBE, AccessPort, shaved Neovas:

...went to Atlanta to TopSpeed. I would highly recommend Doug Wilks. He did a great job and is a nice guy. Can't wait to autox it now. Depending on which gas it has about 312 torque with 100, and 300 with 93.

So why is it that STi's have been dominating at Nationals? Just more of them running, so more of them are well-prepped? Better drivers?

I checked the entry list for the Dixie event--all eight cars entered are STis.
