Thanks for following up with TR. I'll need to do something soon, regardless of TR helping the cause or not. Snow will be falling in the next couple of weeks and these Yoks are gonna SUCK.

Anyone have an update??? I've swapped my stock seats for some Sparco Evo's. I'm thinking about increasing the spring rates, currently running PSS9's. Next autocross is in five weeks.

Must be nice to have an autocross that soon. Well, I've got to settle for playing on Chad's "mad-tyte" PS 2 racing sim in the CBRD Speedfactory.
Silencer, are you planning on coming down to DC for the Pro in June?

Sorry missed this. I believe the fronts have the higher rate around 430lbs. You can change the rears out to 7-8" 500-550# 2.5" springs and hardware. You can also run 500f/600r with the stock valving.
I have my car apart for maintenance and repairs, first race is in 2 weeks.

Not a problem Rick and thanks for the info. I remember you saying that you did some intensive testing with valving and spring rates. Did you try the 500/600 and if so, what was your impression with this setup? Is 600 pretty much the limit with stock valving? Thanks again.

This is my first post on this board but I already know a few of you from Nationals this past year as well as '05. I was the guy in the red RX8 (highest finishing one...ha!) this past year and co-drove a silver STi in '05. Well that car is now gone and I just picked up a brand new SE which I will campaign in STU this year.
To make myself useful, here is a pretty good list of the STU-specific rules:
What is the Street Touring Class (STU)?
Started in 1997, this is one of SCCA’s fasted growing solo 2 category which includes Street Touring Sport (STS), Street Touring Sport 2 seater (STS2), Street Touring Xtra (STX), and Street Touring Ultra (STU). This the only category that does NOT allow R-compound tires – only real “street” tires with a UTQG treadwear rating of 140 or higher.
STU consists of sedans / coupes with four seats and normally aspirated engines of any displacement normally aspirated or turbo / supercharged engines up to 3.1 L.
Modifications:
All stock category allowances
Limited slip differentials allowed (including aftermarket) for 2WD cars
High-flow “cat”
Pedal kits and other interior trim
Front Seats (25 pounds minimum weight each including brackets)
Rub strips, emblems, and mud flaps removed.
Body kits, spoilers and wings added
Shocks/struts
Drilled and slotted larger brake calipers and rotors
Braided DOT brake lines
Anti-roll bars, front and rear
Suspension bushings (non-metallic)
Lowered suspensions unit standard-type springs
Camber kits, plates, or bolts
Traction bars, torque arms, panhard rods
Strut bars, 2-point only
Battery relocated
Air filter systems up to throttle body or compressor inlet
Headers, emissions compliant
Engine computers (ECU/PCM) reprogrammed, no boost increase allowed
Shifter kits
Accessory drive pulleys
Motor mounts (non-metallic)
No wheel restrictions
Tires for 2WD cars up to 275mm wide (245 for AWD)
Example of included cars: Audi S4, BMW M3 (E36), Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge SRT-4, Ford Mustang, Mazda RX-8, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Pontiac Firebird / Trans Am and GTO, Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Volvo S60 R, Toyota Supra
Excluded cars: BMW M3 (E46) and M5 (E39)
All of the ST rules can be found here under section 14.

Wow, lot's of Evo 9's in STU this year. Just in my area we've had 3 people pick them up and we've got several more peeps looking. Should be an interesting season in 2007.

While we're talking about STU, I now have a really hi-flow cat. I saw what some of the top STis were running at Nats and I knew my big ceramic Magnaflow hi-flow cat wasn't going to cut it anymore. The new one uses a 100cell metal race core and the wt. is about 2 1/2 lbs.
I couldn't find a vendor who sold them, so I had to buy in quantity to get the cats. I've sold some to local national ST competitors and DaveMac may get one also. If anyone is interested, I still have a few left.
Thanks,
Rick
