Most of the information that applies to the Subaru setup, applies to the Evo setup. Same construction. The rear design is different, obviously, because the Evo is a multilink rear.

http://zzyzxmotorsports.com/products/coilovers/

In summary:

1) All aluminum construction / CNC machined. No welds. Very strong and light.

2) Front lower flanges slotted for more camber adjustment.

3) Shock bodies are threaded. You can adjust bump/droop travel independant of ride height.

4) Far more bump/droop travel than other coilovers - even than stock.

5) Shocks are Koni 8611 double adjustable (or single if you prefer) race shocks. Rebound adjusts at the top, bump on the bottom. More on the shocks w/shock dyno here:

http://zzyzxmotorsports.com/products/koni

6) Shocks can handle a WIDE range of spring rates - I've run from 250 lb. (rallyx setup) to 1100 lb (autox) on my Subaru.

When will camber plates be available?
Will they be the top-mount type?

Those Koni 8611s are not streetable right?

Any pricing info on the coilover yet (please pm or email me)?

No specific ETA yet, but plan to have the prototypes ready by February.

No, they will be a 3 plate sandwich type like the Noltecs.

Quite the contrary, their very streetable. I'd venture to say, more so than most coilovers on the market right now.

Will the camber plates allow for caster adjustment?

Is the upper spring perch part of the camber plates?

What is the range (clicks) of bump and rebound adjustment?

Looking at the pictures, do the ears slide up and down or are they threaded for adjustment?

What size shaft? 22mm?

Choice of spring/perch O.D.?

Rebuild at Koni?

Thanks,

Dave

The ones I'm designing, yes.

No. The tophats are supplied with the coilovers. I will fabricate bushings to work correctly with your camber plates if you send them to me for correct fitment.

On the Koni 8611s there are 12 clicks of adjustment for bump, and rebound is continuous - about 2.5 full turns at the top of the shock.

That said, it's not the number of clicks or turns that matters, it's the range of damping that the shock provides from full soft to full stiff. The shock dyno that illustrates this range (performed by Koni), it at:

http://zzyzxmotorsports.com/products/koni

As you can see from the dyno, this shock offers A LOT of damping adjustment. I've used from 250# to 1100# springs on these shocks and it can handle the range.

Unfortunately the pics don't capture the threads very well. Yes the entire shock body is threaded at 10 TPI which makes adjustments easy. 10 turns = 1" of adjustment.

The OD of the shaft on the Koni 8611 is 21.75mm. Full details are in the Koni Motorsports catalog, on page 10. Here's a direct link to the PDF:

The coilovers are designed for a 2.5" ID spring. I use 6" or 7" springs depending on rate. This positions the lower spring perch above the tire, to maximize strut/tire clearance.

Yes, I recommend rebuilds be done by Koni.

Here's a newbie question for those that auto-x their EVO's. At what fuel level do you guys run? I had fuel starvation issues with my last auto-x car at anything less than 3/4 tank. Can the EVO IX run on light fuel loads or do I have to carry all that extra gas around again in this car?

Corey, it's best to run a full tank and carry a reserve in the back seat.............to help the rest of us out.

I run a 1/4 to slightly over a 1/4 w/o fuel starvation. I have run the level down to just under an 1/8 on a road course with an occasional hiccup. This was also with street tires. 1.2g's.

LOL! I find that usually slightly under a 1/4 tank works ...

I typically run just a tick over a 1/4 of a tank just because the car seems to rotate a little better with the extra weight.

STU rules dictate a full tank, plus a 55 gallon drum filled with cole slaw in the back seat.

If you don't have it, you will be protested!

Hahahahaha... I just did my first AX last weekend in my RS and I ran just over 1/4 tank. No starvation issues.

When are you going to be open? I'm going to need an STU legal (no boost mods) tune from you. I'll be in touch soon to get something set up.
