I have been in all of those seats and I have ridden for hours in a pro2000 and love that seat the most. My #1 choice is the pro2000, then the Evo2. Not a big fan of the fighters.

I have a Pro2000 in my Camaro. I have no problems driving it for 4+ hours at a time to the track. It doesn't work very well with the stock safety belts though due to the side bolsters.

Are most of you guys changing the factory Recaros out?

Considering their comfort along w/ the adjustability of the backrest, and there's not that much weight to be saved--I'm sticking w/ them in my car...

Stock is fine for me, but the more serious people do get better seats for increased stability and weight savings. I drive mine daily, so I don't plan to change anything drastic like that for a while.

Speaking of seats, what is the best (i.e., lightest and most reasonably priced) legal choice for a passenger seat that won't be used?

Dont forget about Cobra seats. I have the Cobra Imola 2 in the Supra and they are very comfortable, although restrictive for a DD, I have spent hours at a time in them.
My evo Recaros will stay.

Also look into RaceTech. They are absolutely top notch, and if you don't need an FIA approved seat their RT4000 line is very light and strong (like 13#). I have an RT4009WTHR which is a wide, tall seat with a head restraint. I plan on using it if/when I take the car to a road course.

Kirkey/Ultrashield aluminum seats are pretty popular also, but I don't know how comfortable they would be for a commute. . .

As for lightest passenger seat, right now the rules still allow a kart seat bolted to the floor. 5-10 # at most. . . but you can expect the rules to change by next year for sure. . .

Let's hope they don't continue to take the 'Street' out of Mod. I don't want to have a car that's totally impractical on the street to keep up w/ allowances...

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Sparco Fighter is a bottom-mount seat. Personally if I were looking to upgrade to a bucket seat and spending over $280, I would make sure it's side-mount, and I am only 5'7". Especially if you are over 5'11", while wearing a helmet you might find that they are hard to get at an optimal height.

No, the rule will go the other way - it will probably be similar to the seat rule in ST classes - seat and brackets must weight "x" pounds, must be a certain height, etc. . .

I think they are really trying to get away from people using kart seats and ultralight, possibly unsafe mounting hardware. Heck, I think Andy Hollis even used a kart seat for the drivers seat in one of his cars just to prove a point.

As for street cars, I think Mark's car is closer to that than mine since he still has AC, but really, if you take off the big wing, graphics, and throw the rear seats back in, my car would easily pass for a daily driver. . . and that will be it's intended use once the season is done. . .

There will be no mistaking my car for anything but a street car. In fact, when I'm driving around on my stock BBS MR rims, you wouldn't know it from any other Evo other than the loud exhaust. It's very plain. My only cosmetic mod is the Recaro baby seat in the rear - it rocks!

I know this is the street mod thread but we should all throw out a big congrats to Brian for winning the Hawk Challenge at the Salt Lake Pro Solo.

Good Luck in Packwood.

IMHO I don't like the Pro2000. It's not the comfort, as the bottom is about the same size as the Sparco Evo. The high side bolsters probably designed for protection "for British touring cars", hits my elbows during the quick steering we do in AX. I would get the regular Evo. The Evo2 is bigger and I think was renamed the EvoL? I did drive 19hrs round trip to Wendover in a Pro2000, not fun.

For your dad, I would just do the driver's seat. With a slider, I think you only save about 7lbs over the more comfortable stock passenger seat set-up.

I have the Evo seats and love them, but they are built for a leaner person. If your waste is bigger than 32" or have a big ***, you will need the Evo 2 or XL. I've driven down to San Diego and back (Bay Area)...about 16-17 hours round trip and no problems for me.
