URGENT - PPIHC car blows TC and needs a new one ASAP!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm in Colorado Springs and have been working towards a run at Pikes Peak for going on 9 months. On our first practice this morning, we blew up something in the TC. We are in urgent need of a new/used working unit for an IX (ACD equipped).
Call me if you can help out....I'm in the process of pulling the old one, so please call.

Just wanted to get a couple "thanks" in here first, as I wouldn't be here if it weren't for our sponsors:
AMS - the Wilwood Rally Brakes have been flawless, and the suspension kicks ***!
Salta Motorsports - Brian, Steve, & Erica have been great, providing on-site service and help whenever/wherever needed. I'm so grateful to these guys as I can focus on the driving.
Ace Transmissions - access to a mechanic and lift, truely a life saver yesterday!
DHP Composites - the car is sticking nicely to the road thanks to the aero parts!
Carz Performance - Lucas, thanks for a good safe tune, the car starts every morning, and I've yet to run into a lick of engine issues, unlike ~50% of the other cars here.
I'd also like to thank Russ at The Motorsports Gallery and The Wright Group for their support as well!
Alright, on to the story:
Day 1 saw us running the section from Glen Cove to Devils Playground. This is a ~2 mile section that is literally nothing but hairpins, and tight ones at that. Lots of elevation gain, and lots of stress on the drivetrain. After the noises started on the first hairpin of the first run, I was afraid that something might lock up on us, so I was taking it easy in some of the areas with lots of exposure. Typically my first run is just a 'get a feel for the road' type run, without taking any chances or pushing hard. On the first hairpin right of our 3rd run, something let go, and the car could no longer move under its own power. The middle section usually lets us get 5-6 runs, so I think I left a bit of time on the table. Oh well...that's racing. We ended up the day with a 2:26. Full times can be seen here. There were some timing issues, but if they're straightened out, it looks like we edged out the STi driven by Kevin Jones by ~2 seconds to take top spot in Time Attack AWD.
After we got off the hill, we headed to Ace Transmissions, and the guys there dove into the project. Within an hour or so, loads of parts were on the ground and we had the TC out. Big thanks to all who helped out with suggestions yesterday, including the guys at DHP...and I though you guys just did kick-*** aero parts.
It was certainly a long day at the 'office.' We were able to source a used TC from Jacks Transmission in Colorado Springs that had a bad ring & pinion (its Warrtalons old one). We pulled apart mine and used the ring & pinion, which had been a bit heat stressed. It whines like a banshee, but the car was up and running by 8pm yesterday evening.
We were back on the hill at 3am this morning with a running car, and when driving thru the hairpins that yesterday were tugging at the diffs, today all was smooth. The section today was from Devil's Playground to the top, and this part of the road is all dirt. This section has some very high speed sections with tons of exposure. If you go off here, its not good - think sharp rocks opening up a car like a can-opener.
We started out with a cautious first run and ramped up the speed as the day went on. We ended up leading the class by ~6 seconds over Peter Workum in a STi with a time of 3:25. Full results can be seen here.
I'm off to bed now, I've got to get up at 2:15 to head up to the hill.
Thanks for reading!

AWESOME NEWS DAVE! I am glad you got it all worked out! You are making us proud out there Dave and please let us know if you need ANYTHING!

Finally back in the hotel. Had another great morning up on the hill, on only 2 hours of sleep. We only got 3 qualifying runs due to a few mechanical DNFs, and a few self imposed DNFs (crashes).
First run I pushed pretty hard just to see where we'd end up. After getting down to the bottom, only one other driver bested our time. I was a bit surprised and determined to turn up the wick on run #2. Then, about 1/2 hour later at the top of run 2, I heard that Rhys Millen was driving the car on that run...that's got to be cheating right?
Rhys' Pontiac is still getting repairs done, so he borrowed a car for a run to get the feel for the road.
Runs 2 & 3 saw us dropping more time by pushing deeper into the corners, and I still think I've left some time out on the course. We ended up the top qualifier with a 5:16, ~6.5 seconds up on Kevin Jones in the Crawford prepped STi. A quick scan of the times (link here), and I think we're in 9th place overall, which is with some pretty fast company.
The best part is that we've earned an invite to Fan Fest as Time Attack AWD fast qualifier, where we will get to display the Evo wit the other top qualifiers. Fan Fest is a huge block party in Colorado Spring's bar district that saw about 40,000 attendees last year. Its a good thing we've got tomorrow off.
I'm still trying to get some pictures up for you guys, but my camera isn't speaking to my laptop at the moment. Here are some links to some of the pro photographers:

Dave,
Congrats on being TQ in time attack!
Let me know if you want to do some more promotional work, give me a call tomorrow if you want and we can talk and see if we can't work something out.
Give it hell and I'll see you Sunday/tomorrow night!
Well, I am sick so I couldn't attend the HC for the first time in 5 years... But Ive been listening on the radio, I think Dave won TT AWD with an 11.49. Correct me if im wrong Dave, otherwise, Congrats!

I need some sleep too.
