Rolled the EVO ?????

Yep he did.
On the last leg of the race the he was drifting into a corner and it looked like it locked up on him so he was not able to get out of the drift. Before the crash they were doing really good on the corners.

Marty Roestenburg was driving a red tube frame Evo VIII (2200 lbs. w/~700hp) with the Metalman decals on it...this thread detailed the build-up on the red Evo IX (3400 lbs. w/300hp) that had the large AMS decals on it.

We are fine and finished 1st in our class, but rumor is that Marty sustained several broken ribs in the crash. The gearbox had a large hole in it when we saw it back in the pits, but not sure which came first...in any event, I hope Marty gets better soon and that we see him on the hill next year!

Im not an evo owner but I wanted to share some of my photos of the Hill Climb. Most are evos (I believe) and I hope in-line photos are allowed here. They are copyright protected so nothing but personal use please. Enjoy.

 

Darkalain were you up at devils playground all day........ur shots are a little better than mine. I was up on the ridge behind the radio van at the corner of 16 mile where the snow pack was..........good photos dude.

That black and white subaru about launched himself in the snow drift when he drifted into the corner near us.....lol

...after watching the 2nd video of the race I have to ask. Did you have to get a seat custom made so you could fit your ***** in it?

 

No, but I did double up the thickness of the kevlar under my seat...wouldn't want to scrape them on a rock ya know.

Yes, I was just down from you on that next turn past the mile marker. I also spent some time up the road at the Bottomless Pit - I had actually just left the Bottomless Pit when that 1 evo wrecked - I just missed it - but went back and got those photos. I have a lot more photos if anyone is interested in the sidecars, atv's, open wheel, trucks etc

Dave - I have pretty good video of you on race day near Devils Playground - the clips are high quality (Sony's close to HD) and are kinda large - Ill look up the file sizes tonight and see what I have for you and see how I can get em to ya. They should be short clips of you on one of the hairpins at Devils Playground. I also have the full 10MP high res shots of your car that I already posted here if you'd like copies of those.

In regards to the evo that rolled - I was making my way back to the paved area (from the bottomless pit where he wrecked) - walking along the road basically when that evo came by (thats how I got the shots I did) and I thought to myself man that is the fastest car Ive seen through here all day - unfortunately he was going too fast through the next section - glad he was OK.
