considering the optimum pressure for the front and rear are different due to the weight difference on the front and rear axle, with the front requiring more pressure to deal with the higher static weight, I would be hesitant to say you have to run more pressure in the rear then in the front. BSP was won last year with 2psi less pressure in the rear tires then in the front.

FWIW, at the El Toro Pro, I ran my 285 Hoosier A6s at 40 psi all around.

Now I don't claim to be dialed in to the level of the car that Marshall drives, but it sounds like we're pretty darn close in terms of tire pressures.

I'm running about -3 degrees camber in the front and as much as I can get (about -1.8 degrees) in the rear. Zero toe all around.

Just a word to the wise, if it's been awhile since changing your studs/nuts you may want to do it soon. Mine have 2 years and at least 70ish tire changes (15+ events/yr, 2 changes per event). Always tq to 80ft-lbs, no antisieze.

Brand is KYO-EI that RRE sells, def fatigue failure, I had a metallurgist at work take a look today. Got ARP's coming to replace them.

On the race gas/octane front after talking to Mark last year I switched from 100 to 104. I've also bee running from 5 gallon jugs which are typically $9.00ish per gallon. In NY we can get it for about $7.50 from the pump. Apparently one is safer than the other and worth the extra $$.

John

tune the cars for 91 and throw in pump 100 for AXs or HPDEs...
(unless you a Nat. guy or have a budget for sealed race fuels)
There hasnt been a time really where a 91 tune hasnt been suffecient at any local event for me.(well this is all in fun for me and a $2000 rebuild isnt fun in my book....thats tires and a new set of wheels possibly...)

My setup last year with V710's I ran equal pressures front to rear and staggered up or down no more than 2psi depending on current conditions. In fact the rear would get crazy on me if I started adding pressure. Nice to hear others are in the same territory.

I have a couple questions on the rules for BSP that I wanted to make sure about:

From what I was reading I could add a Evo 9 turbo charger to my 2005 Evo 8 MR, as long as its stock because of update backdate rule?

The rules state I cannot remove air bags, but can replace steering wheel with one that doesn't have one? I just wanted the weight savings of removing air bag without the cost of replacing steering wheel.

Buschur exhaust manifold ported and coated ?

Buschur 02 stainless or coated one?

What about rear seat belts and hardware?

I thought I read you can remove the front seat belts as long as it is replaced with something like 5 point harness..

I have a Works skid plate (what I am calling it). It connects at 5 locations (5 bolts) underneath, is that legal or do I need to run the stock bar (bent mine) that it replaced.

I would like to thank all who contribute their knowledge to this thread, it is really helpful being able to come online and verify I am going in the right direction and get ideas on how to make my car faster. This stuff costs to much money to mess up and do again (been there and done that).

As the rules say, you can replace your OEM wheel w/aftermarket but cannot just pull the airbag by itself. Pretty cut and dry.

Buschur exhaust manifold ported and coated ? Legal.

Buschur 02 stainless or coated one? Coated, why not? I actually have this coated one and it's still in great shape after 2 yrs of use.

What about rear seat belts and hardware?

HTH,
John

Those can also be removed and replaced with harnesses, in SM they can be pulled completely. OEM seatbelts are pretty light and you won't see any gain by swapping (besides lightening your wallet). There is a gain in the front if you run a harness and remove the OEM belt, just b/c you're adding weight with the harness.

Got it, Thanks again. No point in replacing with harnesses in front or back then. When I get the racing seat I will get harness, until then I will hold off.

The Works Croxx 2 plate I have is illegal for BSP, it says right on their website it gives more rigidity because it has 5 connection points to frame.

You will have some good competition if you hit Devens this year...

I'll start a Devens thread in a few weeks.
