I believe the idea is to prevent someone from making hybrid engine combinations that prove superior to anything factory made. Most recently this would be something like the LS/VTEC combos, but old fords and chevys cold really do this and make some pretty mean combinations. allowing individual parts would just open up a big can o'worms

Does anyone use a Kirkey racing seat and if so which one? I read in the rules that seat and mounting bracket/rail must weigh at least 20 lbs. I think those seats seem the most reasonable price and also lightest weight. Also, what mounting bracket did you use?

Thanks
Mike

I have an Ultrashield aluminum seat similar to the Kirkey. It is the RallySport model. Works well.

I used Sparco bases and sliders and bottom mounted the seat to the sliders. I did have to use some thick washers to space the seat up from the sliders a bit so that you could get to the slider adjuster bar.

Anyone here do any data Aq? I just started with my STi and it would be interesting to see where the EVO sits on different surfaces as far as SS and peak lateral G as well as accel/decel info...I will share via PM with anyone that wants to talk about data Aq in particular. I have a DL90, it's not the best, but it was very affordable.

I have a DL1 and am just starting to use it. I recently started a thread in the motorsports section for DL1 discussion :
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=338463
It died, but that may be a good place to open up a discusison, as well as to help newbs like me learn the software. . .

a rough performance envelop for the evo is 1.3g lateral, .6g (1g on the launch)accel, 1.1g braking (average peak numbers when the data samples are averaged over .3 secs). the best i've ever seen our car do was at the latest el toro pro we did 1.43g peak lateral and 1.3g braking, with the same accel performance.

steadystate lateral accel varys with track temp anywhere from 1.15 to 1.2 g's. steadystate longitudinal acceleration is very close to the peak numbers.

how are the STi numbers?

Do you think I could reuse the stock rails or do you need an aftermarket set? What does your Ultrasheild seat weigh with the rails you used? I assume it made the 20 lb. weight limit..

ironically I am around 1.15 to 1.25 on two diffrerent asphalt surfaces...highest I have ever seen is 1.3ss with peak 1.7 in Peru on crete but I think it's cause of the bumpy spots..I will have to check the launch and decel numbers and get back to you, I am been primarily concerned with my sslat G's.

sounds about right for 3000lbs on 285 hoosiers. We haven't run the evo on any concrete yet.

I know nothing about stock rails. If they bolt to the bottom of the stock seat then they may be able to be used. You will probably have to take it apart and try? Not sure. . .

As for the Ultrashield RallySport seat, I got them from SoloPerformance. I have a big one - 18" or 19" width, and alone it weighs a bit over 16# with the cover. A 16" width RallySport weighs 15#3oz. with the cover. The sparco base alone weighs 4#13oz. So if you solid mount the seat, by the time you add in a pound of mounting nuts/bolts/washers you will be right at 21#. Not too bad for a $350 combo ($250 seat, $100 base).

Figure sliders to add another 6-7#.

With the Devens NT coming up I figured I'd bump this thread and see if anyone else is gonna register.

Mike, do you have your car back together, got a codriver?

Jeff, are you coming to his event?

My codriver still has to reg. That will put us at 5 cars as there are only 4 currently reg'd.

Oh, and you guys missed a serious kick *** test and tune up there last weekend. I have 27 different log files on the MaxQ, and thats not even all the seat time I got. Even put on the street tires for the afternoon.

As you know, I'm registered for the Devens event.

All the parts needed to put my car back together have now arrived at DSG. They already have the head back from the machine shop and attached to the new short block. I was there yesterday, looking at dozens of random parts from my engine bay scattered all around the car (turbo here, tranny there, unidentifiable small parts everywhere). It looks worse than open-heart surgery! Made me a little nervous about how it's going to turn out. But they also had three other engines in progress, and these guys know there way around an Evo (or STI) engine bay.

Anyway, I should have the car back on the circuit this weekend, if all goes according to schedule. I'm hoping to drive it in the Sunday BMW event. Certainly it will be ready for the Devens tour event. Unless I blow it up again. (Ha, ha!)

I won't have the new suspension, though. Can't afford it yet with the engine replacement, and Zzyzx hasn't gotten back to me anyway with a date that it will be ready. I may just go with stiffer springs up front in my Stance coilovers.

I may have a co-driver for Devens. My daughter is driving Chang Kim's Honda in HSL, so she's not available, but I'll check with Charles Moss. He hasn't registered yet.

I will be at Devens, so that makes 5 for BSP. That makes it not a bump class, correct?

"The **** is not at this time recommending any changes with regard to the SP classification of the Mitsubishi Evolution and
Subaru WRX STI. It is the committee’s position that other recommended changes will help competitiveness for some of the other existing
cars in BSP."

although it looks like we're going to have to deal with gxp/redlines and e46 M3's. i'm ok with that. just as long as we're not up against GT2's.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's a bump class? Is that where they bump BSP up to SM, or something like that?
