TR30R Garrett which is now available to the public according to several recent publications. It uses a Mar-m turbine wheel, inconel turbine housing and is 36% lighter than the standard Evo turbo. It's about 10k USD and will be tough to source one without the 34mm homologated restrictor inlet unless you find one from/for a LeMans car.

I think the closest thing that you'll get to a wrc turbo without braking your is the 6.5 TME turbo.

I remember Shawn Carlson paid $25 for an IRL or Champcar Turbo when he build his Ford Focus.

i figured that the turbo would be very high priced my question had more to do with the stock ecu on evos then the turbo itself.

Heres a cutaway of a TR30R from Import tuner. Maybe Bimmubishi can verify it.

WRC turbo/restrictor creates an interesting powerband. Because of the restrictor the car really falls on it's face at high RPM's, that's why you never hear the WRC cars revving high, there's no power up top.

So they make gobs of power down low in the RPM range by spinning that huge turbo with anti-lag. It's a very format specific powerband, and it's murder on those turbos.

+1 , you can't drive the car with that turbo on the streets.
If you need a restricor plate i can get you one. I can get a groupe "A" 36 mm or the "N" 34 or 32 mm . Just make sure if you running one of those you will have ALS system installed too.
The reason they using those , because the regulation not allow any turbo modifications.
Your whp will suffer, but your TQ will be a monster.
These set ups for rally or Autox. Road race i would get something else.

That is a version Jason. That's obviously a version with the restrictor cast into the intake nozzle. I think that picture was taken at PRI.

Group A8/WRC restrictors are 34mm, N is 32mm. Turbos in wrc are more highly developed than any other form of motorsport and are open to any kind of modification as long as the incoming air all passes through the restrictor.

The last Lancer WRC used a garrett but the Grp A Evo VI, Evo WRC and Evo WRC Step II all used mitsubishi group A spec 16GHRAs with a ball bearing center cartridge. Once they redesigned the car from scratch and seriously took advantage of the WRC rules, they could tilt the motor back and use a long tube manifold along with the TR30R that is now used by every team besides subaru (who use prototype IHI units) The TR30R is configureable in over 200 combinations of wheels/housings. The one pictured above looks to be from an LMP2 AER or something with an even larger restrictor than that, maybe a rallycross turbo?

yes you right, my mistake. THe A is a 34 , in my country we can use 36 too for the A groupe. I was in the groupe N so we always used the "factory turbo's" And in my groupe, we can't modify the turbine wheels. But still making decent tq.

i dont know the ralli cross secrets, and i left my country 8 years ago, so the rules are changed i'm sure. And here looks to me nobody goes for the rally

Its crazy how developed the factory Evo IV-IX turbos are, especially the newest IX RS turbo. Everything is designed around there being a restrictor. The Group N evos in Hungary and Czech are more developed than anywhere else in the world.

So this T30R is capable of fairly high boost and airflow unrestricted? The reason this thread got started was we were trying to figure out what turbo Mitsu was most likely using to map out the VIII and IX timing maps. It would be something capable of holding 30psi fairly easy in low and mid range and still manage to hold 26 by redline (7k) if it didnt have a restrictor. More or less Green airflow vs a stock turbo.

I have seen what I thought was a T30R on a HKS LMP motor and a grundle of 15GK2 in the rally world in the last few years. These photos probably arent new to some as I took them in '03 and they have been floating around the internet but here is the HKS motor:

The last one has the "spec" sheet and it says HKS Racing Turbo so who knows what it actually decends from.

That HKS motor isn't equipped with a TR30r. It looks more like a Garrett GT series turbo.
