Thumbs up HamFLeX TT-U/ Modified RTA build!

The other day I started taking apart the Evo as my season has come to an end. It was a fun year as I stepped into a whole new series and competition level of racing.
I entered Modified class at my local track Autobahn Country club and realized how off pace a stock turbo is! LOL..... In my local series the Midewestern Council of Sports Car Clubs I began racing in the All Race class (AR) and realized once again the stock turbo was a little out of pace.... And I took the car to a good amount of NASA Time trials including the Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park. In the midwest power level was okay as I race in TT-S. But in Utah it was hard to obtain that same power as the stock turbo was just out of efficiency. At a point the increased boost did nothing but make the car run a little on the hot side.

Well I always enjoy reading other members Evo builds, most of which are at a higher caliber than mine. So I thought why not through mine on here, may be more of a obtainable build as I am always on a budget! Hell I still make a car payment, $17k to go and she is all mine!!! LOL I will post some pics tomorrow of what I am starting with. I have had the car for three years and have already done a handful of mods to it. This winter I plan to emphasize on weight loss, more power, custom aero, including front splitter, rear diffuser, wing, and a shot at a subaru style wide body.

Here is a current list of mods I just copy and pasted from my post in the Track car build thread. Some of the parts are off and sold, but i will be updating with there replacements!

Suspension:
- Stance GR+ 3-ways with Swift springs, 14k rear and 12k front
- Whiteline 24mm rear sway bar
- Whiteline front and rear adjustable end links
- Whiteline front control arm bushings
- Whiteline Roll center adjustment kit
- Whiteline rear bump steer kit
- AMS rear trailer arm bushing
- AMS front motor mount
I think thats it???

Drivetrain:
- Exedy twin disk
- 5 speed swap

Powertrain:
- Ported and honed stock exhaust mani
- o2 housing
- AMS downpipe
- AMS custom resonated turn down exhaust
- AMS fmic
- K&N intake filter
- HKS 272 cams
- ARP head studs
- Hallman evolution rx boost controller
- AMS custom 100 octane dyno tune
I think that is all too?????

Safety/ interior:
- Full 4130 chromoly cage built with w2w intentions
- Sparco corsa seats I think?? LOL
- Splash hub
- Buddy club seat brackets
- Bad as$ steering wheel, so bad as$ i forget the brand??
- Greddy boost gauge
Like everything else prolly forgetting something

Exterior:
- Origin GT wing... really big
- EbaY varis knock off front lip
- Fenders destroyed from pulling and rolling by yours truly!
- oh and JDM mr tails, gotta have that JDM style

Wheels and Tires:
- Enkei NT03 +m 18 x 9.5 +27mm offset
- 10mm front wheel spacers

- Michelin blues, 24/64/18
- Nitto NT01 275/35/18

Brakes:
- Girodisc two piece rotors front and back
- Performance friction PF01 front pads
- Hawk dtc-60 rear pads
- AMS brake cooling kit
- Motul RBF 600 fluid
- AMS SS brake lines

The car made 351 awhp and 353 ft/lb of torque and 26 psi last year at AMS. Future mods are to address aero seriously! Fp red turbo, AMS F1 intake, and maybe a different cam selection.

Well feel free to comment and make suggestions! Like I said pics tomorrow of what I am starting with this winter!!!

haha for sure! I had plans tonight so by the time I got back it was to late to take some pics. The car is already visually gutted you could say. the interior is long gone but I never really started to cut weight as I was in TT-S. Like it says above there is also already a full cage in the car, but I will post new pics as I take some tomorrow. Old pics of the car can be found on my blog hamflex.com

Just started making some rough templates for mounting the wing tonight. I will be using the same wing I did last year, although I was not a fan of the mounting set up. It held the wing fine and I had it secured with tension wire but the supports were to close to the middle. After 5 days of racing at Miller where I was braking in the front straight right at around 145mph or so. There was a small crack on the seam that originally measured at around 5 inches and after nationals was close to 12 inches. The ends of the wing were not properly supported so I am creating mounts that will go through the trunk right to the chassis! Hopefully this will help as it will be spaced as far as I can fit it.

Wow, congrats....

Sounds like you have a big work ahead of you.

I'm undergoing a build too, though it's going to be in a different direction. I'm actually going for less power more reliability. I will set the car up from TT-S (right now I was leding in TT-U) and RTA Street class. It just gets way more expansive up there.

Just a quick suggestion, save up some money

Yea I here that! I hope to do more crossover events next year so I will see you for sure as I'm in the midwest region.

Hey in your evo what were your times in relation to ken smiths TT-S vette? He is one hell of a driver!

If you're going with an FP Red or similar sized turbo, you may want to go the route of upgraded cams, ported head, and valvetrain. With the extra air a turbo like that will move, you'll probably want the ability to rev the engine out to at least 8K.

If you ever want to hook up and talk shop, send me a PM. I live in Oswego, so not too far from ya. If you're serious about aero, you may want to take a look at my diffuser/exhaust setup and use it as a template (it can be made even better if you're starting from scratch).

Good luck on the build. I was seriously considering a build for next year, but we've got a kid on the way, so that has pretty much nixed any dreams of racing. I'll be lucky to get in a few HPDE's as it is. Ugh.

Yea I think the fp red is in the works along with e85. Money is a bit of an issue as I am tryin to save what I can to get to hopefully 6 of the 8 RTA events. So we may be keeping the hks cams in. I will pm you about the rear diffuser I would love to see some pics of it!

I was considering it. I recently bought the gruppe-s acd reflash. I used it at are local track blackhawk farms and it really made a differance.

As of right now I am going to keep that and look into the diff once the season starts!

What'd you think of that? Did it make a difference in...say the carousel from T3?

yea you could really feel it there. It was also very noticeable in tight low speed sections. it locked rather quick actually! oh and T5 was crazy with it!!!!

But on a side note, I also took my wing off for this event to kind of evaluate feedback with out the down force. High speed cornering obviously was affected as was braking. So in those higher speed sections like T3 and T5 a lot of the drift I feel was coming more from the lack of down force.

just some basic pics to really get an idea of where it stands now. It looks gutted but she is still fat! I think weight at miller with me and a half tank of gas was 3150. I myself weigh 150lbs and what ever a half tank of gas is! LOL
