Blackenedwings '06 IX MR build thread
I should be picking up the car to start breaking in the new clutch and motor later this week. The motor is complete, a rebuilt Shep Stage 2 and Exedy twin ready to bolt up, the fuel system and gauges are in, and the new turbo should be arriving in the next day or so. Thanks to Chad at CBRD I will be rocking the turbo I've been fiending over since I heard about it's release, the BBK-3B. Going from a 49 lb/min turbo to a 57 lb/min should let me run lower boost pressures to hit my target power level for TT2 on pump gas, and give me some room to reach when I run on E85 kill mode.
There are a few things which still need to be done on the car later in the season, unfortunately due to shop schedule I wasn't able to get the front hoop on the cage and nascar bars installed before my first event. I'm also considering an Accusump as I currently run a stock pan with HLA and I'm getting concerned about oil starvation. I've done a lot of reading on the forum, but I haven't seen a conclusive answer to oil starvation on right hand sweepers with sticky tires besides a dry sump which is $$$.
Plenty of pics to come when the car is back in one piece!

Absolutely, I have been meaning to ask you about it. My main concern is clearance/fitment issues. I've heard that it doesn't fit with the MAPerformance o2 dump (that I have) so I'm not sure if its an option for me.
Also, are you running an Accusump on your car?

The car is 3100 lbs with half a tank of fuel right now, with driver/gear it comes to a race weight of about 3285. She's still a fat ***** and I have a ton of weight reduction I could do, but it would put me immediately in TT1. At my current race weight I can run 410 awhp in TT2.
On a high boost E85 tune the car should make well over 500 whp. I've got another couple hundred pounds I could pull pretty easy as I still have door panels, a bunch of emissions crap, full weight battery, bunch of sound deadening still etc. To be near the limit for TT1 I would want the car weighing ~3000 lbs with driver and over 500 whp on E85. That class is insanely competitive though, as my region would put me against Phil Grabow's Element Tuning car which holds the track record for multiple tracks near me.
No reason to push for TT1 now if I can squeek into TT2 and run lower boost on easier to obtain fuel. Plenty of TT2 guys running in my area so good competition. My car is still street tagged and I have E85 locally, so I'll have a street tune running E85 for fun and to get me used to the power, and eventually down the line I might step up to TT1 like Tim!
No problem. I'll be breaking in the motor at a DE on NJMP Lightning on April 20-21st on street tires (NT05s with a few heat cycles in them) and then going to Hoosier R6s for TT. I don't think I can squeeze 275s under my stock fenders, so I'll probably be running 255/30/18 on Volk RE30 18x9 rims.

See you at Lightning.
4cndctn, johnr are the other evo guys that will be there. too bad you skurd to bring out the evo this year. We need to get Grillo to step up to TT.
275 will fit with rear fenders rolled. Even 285 will fit, and its a common setup for autox guys. You just need the right wheel combination. Last year, i ran 285/30/18 A6 on RPF1 18x9.5 +38. You'll need 20mm spacers for the front, 2-4mm spacers for the back if it rubs the control arm. I ran this setup with narra last year. Towards the end of last year, I switched to 275/35/18 A6 which ill be running this year. Oh wait, why am i telling you this, youll be my competitor if i move to TT2
See you at Lightning.

See you at Lightning.
I'll be a rookie, so even if we end up in TT2 together, I doubt I'll press you too hard.

It will be cool to see you guys at Lightning. I'll just be in DE breaking in the car this time out, but I should be in TT2 in May.
