As I recall the other big budget teams, to which U refer, tried to copy RB design last year but still came up short...we shall C how successful they R this year...and one other thing which I am sure is "sticking in the old craw" was a statemnt U made toward the end to middle of last year, something like:..."...they(Sauber) will probably have a better chance next Year [2012] when more money is available..."

I think Sauber, Sergio specifically, has a shot at a podium in the dry prior to the euro season if he can qualify in the top 8.
Interesting to see that Ferrari is going to debut a "Sauber inspired rear end" at the test in Mugello. It's being called a Ferrauber ... lol.

Yes, Ken. My prediction from last year seems correct. By the end of this season Sauber has a good chance of finishing as high as 5th overall in the standings, so a definite improvement after the increased financial backing. They still have no chance of either driver making it on the podium in a dry race though.

9th? With all of your research skills to look up my past posts, I thought for sure you'd know that in my opinion they'd be no better than 6th this season, but I'm willing to concede the possibility of 5th in the event that Mercedes or Lotus continue to consistently have failures and/or driver "issues". I don't anticipate that happening for either team though, so 6th is still the most realistic ending position for Sauber. And when that happens, I really hope you quit with this Sauber nonsense, at least until they make some wholesale improvements that give them a realistic shot.
Pete, I pretty much agree with your rankings. I would change Lotus and Mercedes. I feel Mercedes will be 4th this year. And, since we have had only had 2 races, it might be a stretch to see Sauber in 6th. Rain races often make strange finishes. I personally think that the Sauber performance was an anomoly.
Agreed! Nobody thought Vettel would go out and win more races for Toro Rosso, especially on dry pavement, after he got the one and only victory for that team in a wet race, so why would Sauber all of a sudden become a contendor for podiums in a nearly identical scenario?!

Oh c'mon, that is a stretch and you know it. Bad analogy. My sarcasm detector went off as well. LOL. Just because of one race, you have Perez pegged as the next world champion? Seriously dude, I can't buy that. If he were that good, why hasn't he done better before? As for Vettel winning in the rain in a TR, I attributed that to the rain conditions which as I said, make strange finishes. At the time, I felt Vettel was a good driver, but did not go beserk and tout him as the next wonderboy of F1. He proved himself and deserved the promotion to Red Bull.
I will say this that another great driver-Senna, demonstrated his ability in a lowly Toleman back in 1984 at Monaco. But beyond, that, I cannot think of another world championship driver that made his mark in a lesser car in the rain. Perez is a good driver, no doubt about it. But is he a world champion? Only time will tell.

I think you quoted the wrong guy. I've never indicated or suggested that Perez is capable of winning a world championship, at least not yet. In fact, I was simply drawing the comparison in my post of Sauber's win in the rain as equivalent to Toro Rosso's win in the rain a few years ago. The similarity is that Toro Rosso was not capable of winning a race in the dry that year, and neither is Sauber this year.
