LOL. Sauber getting on the podium isn't what's annoyed me.
I said it before it happened, and I'll say it again, the only way they get there is in a fluke rain/weather related race. Until they do it in the dry, then this Sauber business is still just a farce to me.
Oh, and yes, thank you for finally answering my challenging question. You found an instance where once in the last 13 years your ideal strategy of equal cars and equal treatment resulted in a championship. Good job. Now your opinion is no longer like an A-hole.

^^Thanks, thanks for the praise guys...yes, I weighed all the evidence and put the pieces together and something just didn't add up...although the most crediable part of the piece was the Montezemelo rational...wouldn't put it past him.

Really? You think that Monte would even potentially consider CHOOSING to bring in a guy in his mid 30's that is only in F1 this season because of money and an ounce of F1 experience.....as if he couldn't get someone better at Ferrari?! Bringing David Coulthard out of retirement would make more sense, and that's just not even remotely believeable either.
W-Duct: Not another U-turn?!
http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227...erc-rear-wing- ...I don't get it...Whiting says it is legal...other teams keep bit**ing and bit**ing refusing to accept...Whiting now says, "will reavaluate" and "edited version" of his decision is coming...who is in charge here? To me this is much to do about nothing...top speed is slightly higher but really only beneficial in Qualy...during race they got other problems...Good news for Merc: an innovation others did not think of...Bad News: not much of an advantage.

At least Red Bull is doing the right thing by pushing the FIA and CW to step up and make a decision for the entire season; and while I'm sure it'll draw the ire of more than a few fans, it sure beats letting the FIA et. al. get away with the usual mealy mouthed rule enforcement we've seen over the past few years.

I had hoped when Todt took over the FIA, things would settle down. But, it is business as usual. The rules need to be clearly stated at the beginning of the season and if the FIA approves of something, it should stand by its decision. This waffling and wishy-washiness does nothing to give the teams confidence. As much as I can't stand NASCAR politics, they run things with an iron hand. Yes is yes and no is no. Innovation and creativity is what makes this sport exciting. Take it away and you will have just a bunch of cookie cutter cars running to the same formula.
HRT: Will more $$$ do anything?
HRT has added a chinese driver, the first in F1, to their "program" as per here: http://www.crash.net/f1/news/178292/...nt_driver.html ...but there is complete silence as to the $$ he brings with him...let me guess...millions upon millions...source, U ask?...Ans.: Chinese govt if I had to guess...the question is will this infusion of $$ make any difference for this pathetic team?...not this year or next assuming they even survive.

A little team that could: Sauber
Well, as U R all aware, Red Bull was the team that best interpreted the rules for 2011 by developing the blown exhaust, the solution of which enabled them to win the Constructors and Drivers championships. When writing the rules for 2012, Whiting attempted to eliminate blown exhaust technology. It now appears that he was 80% effective. Recently, he states: "I think (the effect) will be 20 per cent of what they had before." Now what was totally unexpected is who got the 20% this year?...Most thought RB, the innovators with Newey, the genious, at work all last winter...or perhaps Ferrari, one of the biggest budget teams...but no, it was one of the smallest teams, Sauber...This from F1reports: "Among the cleverest and most effective solutions for the 2012 rules has been seen on the Sauber, and so Red Bull has followed suit and it is believed Ferrari will be next." ...This brings to mind the saying: "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery"...as a result, more of the Malaysian magic to come!
