Official 2012 Formula One Discussion Thread
Schumi has taken advantage of people getting out of his way so he can win many times over his career. I think he was just giving back a little, and signifying that he really is done. Was a spectacular season, but I'm a little sad that Speed won't be back for future races.
^Apparently there is another now, Bianchi: http://www.f1reports.com/article/182...ia-seat-report ...U NO this is again another example of how F1 drivers get their seat...first it is how much $$ U carry with U (e.g., Sutil was only considered because he is a little rich boy)...then it is connections of UR team with the engine supplier e.g., Ferrari and that makes a lot of sence..NOT! ...I thought F1 was about getting the best driver but apparently this characteristic comes in third...what a system

Well it appears that the haters and supporters of Grosjean made their case last week at a Lotus board meeting the results of which was stalemate: "It is believed Lotus was due to make its decision about Grosjean last week, but the board met and decided to wait a little longer."
Kobay has a chance but it is doubtful at this point.

It would seem crazy that there wouldn't be coverage now that there are two tracks in the US
Yes, apparently SpeedTV will be gone and turned into FoxSports of some sort. As has been previously mentioned in this thread, NBC Sports will be picking up F1. There is only 1 track in the US, Austin. The other one got washed out to the ocean and won't happen.
This is just speculation on my part, but I would think patriotism probably played some part (and its only natural). I assume Schumi would rather see another German win over Fred, thus he easily moved aside for him. Had it been a driver of another nationality I don't think Schumi would've shown the same courtesy regardless of how "great" that driver was
Then the following year, it was Alonso, and an unsuspecting engine failure in the 2nd to last race while in the lead, that kept him from winning WDC #8. Sooooo....I could easily see him taking enjoyment in helping to keep Alonso from winning another championship of his own.
thanks for getting me up to speed, I don't follow this thread. I just watch my DVR'd races, and half the time skip the pre-race where they talk about the drama.
Personally, knowing how competitive the guy is, I think screwing over Alonso was a bigger motivator for him than helping Vettel. As you may recall, it was Alonso's Renault team sporting "Schumacher Who?" t-shirts back in the day when he dethroned Schumacher, and won his first championship. Then the following year, it was Alonso, and an unsuspecting engine failure in the 2nd to last race while in the lead, that kept him from winning WDC #8. Sooooo....I could easily see him taking enjoyment in helping to keep Alonso from winning another championship of his own.

The only problem I have with Race of Champions is that it is very rally-ish in its design giving a slight advantage to the rally drivers, tight small stadium track. I hope they branch it out in the next years possibly having races that cover multiple disciplines of motor sport ex. Oval, Road Course, Rally, etc.
Well, it is over: http://www.pitpass.com/48165-Kobayas...013-seat...and perhaps for me as well until 2014...the $$, the BS, Bernie...not a good feeling...
