Official 2012 Formula One Discussion Thread
First things first...Vettel has won...no infraction according to Whitting...now to the important stuff... Maybe, Maybe Kobay and Lotus: "Writing in Turun Sanomat, journalist Heikki Kulta said Lotus owner Gerard Lopez is wondering if having a more consistent driver alongside Raikkonen would be a wiser choice in terms of securing a more lucrative position in the constructors' world championship...[and] wrote that Japanese Kobayashi, who has been raising money via a support website to contribute to a 2013 employer, has entered the frame [fray] at Lotus after losing his Sauber seat to Esteban Gutierrez."...Lotus "deciders" do the right thing...dump Grosjean and sign Kobay!

Agreed, swap Crash-jean for Crash-bay. Although the problem is Grosjean has shown good speed at circuits where he hasn't crashed and usually qualified higher than Kimi, no?
Also I don't understand where Kamui got this reputation of crashing? The only one that he's had this year that was his fault was Korea... Otherwise he's been relatively stable, sure he's no Alonso or Kimi but I wouldn't consider him a crasher, or did I miss something??
^agreed ...the only real problem I had with him was not on the track but going into pits where he almost took out some of the pit crew...that said, Sauber's car has had its problems reliability wise and the ability of engineers to exttract the best out the car. The race he got squeezed between Merc and McLaren...it was not his fault...Grojean and Maldenado go fast but it is reckless fast...if they make it through a lap it is fast otherwise it is an off or into somebody...Kobay is not that kind of driver...more cautious but U have all seen him in a race...waits for the right moment to pass rather than Perez who tries to make a pass that cannot be made...if Lotus picks Kobay up there will B no excuses for not performing...look at Kovalinen..when at McLaren he was lack luster yet he had a fast car but could not produce...I wish every driver had that opportunity...to B in a fast car for at least four races to C if they have what it takes to challenge for the top...otherwise they R destined to driving an inferior car until the money runs out...now I am ranting and raving.

I really think Kobay finally broke his duck in Suzuka this year. Prior to that he had qualified really well a couple of times, but could not translate that into a good finish due to issues at the start. I suspect he's finally gotten on top of his starting jitters and I think he'd be a great asset to Lotus.

OK, I am still holding out for RB to dump Webber, bring in Kobay and finally let him test his mettle. If Kobay can win in a RB, he deserves to be with a top tier team. If he is middling, then he should be dropped. The Lotus offer is interesting as they have a really good team. Not quite RB or Ferrari, but they are getting close. My money is still on Grosjean staying as Boullier likes him a lot and since Renault is French owned, I would think they would want someone who is French in the car.
Guys, watch this video of Kimi Raikkonen when he went the wrong way in his Lotus in Brazil. It is hilarious. For some reason, I cannot embed the link here, so you will have to go to GPUpdate's link and watch it: http://www.gpupdate.net/en/videos/28...gation-system/

The Crashbay nickname is just a joke between me and SamsonEvoX. He's much better than Grosjean and Malonado, IMHO. But there was that one pit incident. I think, Kobay has been unlucky this year largely due to strategy. Don't forget Nissan owns Renault and last time I checked Nissan was a Japanese manufacturer. There is a chance he could take Grosjean's seat. Hopefully the story below is true:

And apparently the "passing under the flag" incident is closed:

^ You know, several commentators on SkySports were using the name "Crashbay" after a couple of his boneheaded moves. Kobay may not be as bad as Grosjean and Maldonado, but he is not saint either when it comes to wrecking people. Glad you got a kick out of the video Quite funny I would say.
^ the video is freaking hilarious. i got it from the link you posted.

A little detour: JJ Lehto
U all NO JJ Lehto from LeMans fame...won a number of times driving for Audi...now aparently old JJ was out with some friends on some Finnish lake having some booze and skiing...well, one of the skiers got killed running into a bridge and JJ was supposedly driving under the influence...found guilty and goes to slammer for two years...then he makes an appeal and gets off...how could this happen U ask?...well this is what was declared at the second trial: " it couldn't be proven if he was in fact behind the wheel at the time the accident occurred."... what the hell does that mean?...Perhaps that seagulls can't speak?...if there were others in the boat, then they must have been driving for the boat was not driving by itself with a water skyer behind...in short, old JJ got a good lawyer, like OJ, and got off on a legal technicallity.
The Message: Football and race car drivers can get away with murder if they get the right lawyer...suppose this is true for just about any sport or endeaver.
Yes it is true, this is
but I couldn't resist on this one.
