I spent about 5 hours today with the help of my dad making all the mounts etc. I'm gonna pull it all apart tomorrow and clean things up a bit and paint it. Stay tuned for finished pics.

the Derales are made by Setrab for Derale.i am not sure about the internal differences, but you would have to think the Setrab is a more efficient unit.you never know though.they could be identical inside and out.

from my research,it seems like the Fluidynes are the best coolers, though they aren't cheap.

Here is a photo of the Professional Awesome Evo's oil cooling setup. We did this to block off the front inlets as well as create room for brake cooling ducts. Issues that have arisen have been higher coolant temps. They haven't been too bad, approx 200-210 degres on 100 degree days at the end of 20 minute sessions at 30psi, but there is much room for improvement. We have sealed the sides and bottom of our radiator to our inlet for enhanced efficiency, we are revising our latching system to better seal the top of the radiator. We are also working on plans to better control the air after it leaves the radiator to enhance efficiency. The oil cooler is an off the shelf MA Performance Setrab kit. Oil temps will get to the 250 degree range, but it seems that oil pressure has improved.

Regarding NJMP for Global Time Attack, it looks like we will be there if all goes perfectly to plan!

Dan

^^^that is exactly what i want to do...but mounting ideas are escaping me aside from spending two days staring at it to try and make a custom bracket with my horrible welding skills lol

Somewhat off topic. I don't know if anyone is aware of this. I picked up and OEM Evo IX oil cooler for my car, and discover there was a pretty good size difference. While vertically the same size, the IX oil cooler is nearly 2 inches wider than the stock VIII. You must use the IX brackets to make it work. The lines and fittings are the same. It a nice upgrade I think. BOOM

well thats certainly interesting. good thing i have a 9 lol.

i had a thought the other night...

has anyone investigated increasing the extraction of the air at the fender liner, which then in collaboration with a tighter fitting duct, should lead to more flow?

Anybody ever tried a Mocal Laminar flow cooler?

If you are reducing the surface area you are pulling air from anyway by getting rid of the side mount, it seems like this might be a viable option as it won't block airflow to the radiator.

Yep, I've used one on a rally car and I know ACP had one on his car as well. Woked fine at 300hp, but once you make more than that, you end up taxing the radiator system even more and it cant quite keep up.
