2014 STU Discussion!
I was genuinely trying to gather information about approx WHP because the lack of data regarding the X.
The only STU Evo X figures I have seen is the 320WHP from the Vorshlag quote above, and they were tuned with 93???
I figured that the IX should make similar or more power, also all the power figures a see are from years ago…but I understand it is a delicate topic, so let’s just leave it at that…
Hopefully I can compare some meaningful data this year with (Butt Dyno) since we both run in the DC area.
I am praying that my car is at least 3,400lbs,
I should know soon.

On a dynapack sounds about right, subtract 20-25hp for a mustang and you are competitive anyway...
evoX likely needs to have 320+, and still the weight will kill it when limited to 245s, this has been discussed many times in many other threads, lets not clutter 2014 STU thread with rehashing all that.

Sorry to hear about your motor Brian!
How'd you get your STU car down to 2,900? I thought the '04RS like caffineslug's was the lightest. I know Doug put a lot of effort into getting his IX light too.

My motor is fine, unless we are talking to 2 different Brian's?
Yes mine weighed in high 29xxlbs, and that was last season w/ 2.3g fuel, before touching things like 2pc rotors, lightweight exhaust, seats, etc. Oh and with my added cruise control.
The total weight number was within 3lbs on 2 differerent sets of intercomp scales, so i trust it is accurate.
d's post mentioned above:
3076lbs
- ~60lbs fuel to get to a race amount (approx 6lbs gallon x 10 gallons removed, still leaves 4gallons in tank)
- 16lbs in overweight wheels (RPF1's 15.xlbs a wheel x 4 wheels, not to mention the rivals are ~2lb lighter a tire vs the Z1 which was the tire to have then)
- 30lbs in battery vs. lightweight (~42lbs vs 12ish)
-25lbs in radio/speakers/etc (estimated)
= 2945lbs for an 04, with a 'heavier than stock' exhaust, OEM seats, etc basically how mine sat last year at higher 29xxlbs.. but with MIVEC & larger turbo on the IX (sadly with the added ACD weight)... I have now saved more weight over the winter and will likely beat that number.

Also I just read "2,900", instead of high 2,9XX. Still super light, but was wondering what trick parts were being used.
Thanks!
I'll say this... a IX RS in STU trim can easily be done at ASP weight levels, I have done math on the 'easy' parts left to do this (things like seats, light weight exhaust, etc)...

The flap would only be legal if your car was one of the ones that came with it OEM. I think that's the 9 SE and 9 MR w/ appearance package ("MR SE").
I ran Rivals all last year and enjoyed them quite a bit, but Rick's comments in the 2014/2015 Street Tires thread have convinced me to try out a set of ZIIs for this season:
Tire Rack has a $50 MIR on the ZIIs (same for the Rivals, BTW) so I think I'll grab a set before the MIR expires on March 31st.
Before I order: Has anyone driven on both tires and walked away with a preference for the Rivals over the ZIIs? Some of the guys in our local region prefer the Rivals for their better heat management, but I usually don't have a codriver so that shouldn't be an issue.
Alternatively, has anyone heard anything new about the R-S3 version 3? Supposedly it's coming out soon, but Hankook is quickly running out of time to make the SCCA cut-off for this season.
On an Evo for AX, the Dunlop ZIIs have proven to be faster. Some who changed to Rivals when they first came out, swapped back to the ZIIs.
Look at the 2013 SCCA National Championships results for STU, where the fastest Street tire Evos run. All the top Evos were on Dunlops, at that was in the heat of summer.

But here's the rulebook. Short version is that you can't add things unless they are OEM or in the accessory catalog, OR they are a replica of OEM or a replica of something in the accessory catalog.
http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...nd%20links.pdf
F. Addition of spoilers, splitters, rear wings, bumper covers, valances,
side skirts, and non-functional sccops/vents is allowed provided that
either:
1. It is a production part which is standard or optional equipment of
a US model of the vehicle. (“Model” is defined in Section 12.3.)
2. It is listed in the vehicle manufacturer’s US accessory catalog
for that vehicle for normal highway use. This does not allow for
parts sold through a manufacturer’s performance catalog (e.g.,
Ford Racing, HPD, Mazdaspeed, Mopar Performance, Mugen,
NISMO, SPT, TRD, etc).
Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact
replicas, including weight, from alternate sources are also permitted.

I have run on both, and I thought I had posted my thoughts on each of them here previously...
Cliffnotes? zII gives top peak grip, but it is edgy to approach, and quick to 'go over' that edge... rival is easier to drive at 100% and come back from over driving... but its peak grip isn't as high as the zII.

My car: 2008 GSR
Basic STU trim:
_Lightweight items: exhaust/ front rotors/ battery/ wheels 9.5 ‘ (actually heavier than stock)
_Delete: spare /tools/ bass box/ amp/ rear spoiler
_Gas ~ 80% full (have to run with the tank almost full to avoid full starvation)
Weight ~ 3,408 lbs (without driver)
I could lose a bit more weight, but I don’t see the point, I don’t even think that 100 lbs more is possible…
___Is it STU legal to replace the seats since the Evo X has airbags in them?
I will still run this PIG against the 2,900 lbs Evos/ STIs…I would like to know the weight of a STU corvette.
