Installed paddle shift into the evo and got it working. The gearbox is now shifting in 6ms according to the gear position sensor. total shift time including ramped recovery etc is about 50ms now. Heres the fastest lap from this weekends racing. car was on rails. this lap was a little bit scrappy especially the last turn i screwed up the entry but it was still fast none the less.
Paddleshift was surprisingly basic to set up and not too expensive when u dont buy a complete kit with 100000% mark up on it.

Cant confirm haha
Brad,
HRS as in HRS tuning shop in Japan, long time specialized in Evo?
How much does Modena sequential box cost these days? Any feedback on your decision making process, why Modena vs Drenth, or XShift, or Kotuc or Samsonas?
Curious what did you learn to pick it as best value.
Thank you.

Some of those walls are surprisingly close to the track. I some times forget how spoiled I am with all the runoff on my local track.
It still blows my mind that our relatively little platform has so many different sequential transmission options. I know the core is the same, but it's still surprising that they'd all do the R&D to get it adapted to our platform.

It's not that small in other markets. They're equivalent to the Subaru market we have in the US. It's why most of our sequential options are made by overseas companies.
Yeah, Evo is way more prevalant in other markets. Then you also have the Evo7 that had the same trans, so and additional 2 (or 3?) model years of production that the US didn't get.

Regarding the box decision the main reason was that they are built in australia which means its easy and fast to get parts. i had a KAPS h pattern dog box before and it was a nightmare to get spares for so i avoided anything in europe.
The XShift looks like a real nice piece of kit or couldnt go past a Hollinger either.
If i could wind back time i would have spent the extra and bought a Hollinger or Xshift. The price difference was about 10,000AUD at the time between hollinger and modena which influenced my decision. Sorry i cant comment on what the modena costs now you would have to get a quote as i bought it around 4 - 5 years ago.
This circuit is Pukekohe Park where the V8 supercars from australia do their new zealand round. They used to race on a street circuit the next town over and when this circuit got the contract back 10 or so years ago they bought all the concrete walls from the street circuit and placed them around the track to make it a bit more exciting and to upgrade from the old armco style walls that were there. however there never was alot of run off
Its definitely a cool track for its bumpyness and high average speed which spikes the adrenaline up lots haha.
