18k turbo?

Interesting release from FP, but oem?

http://www.forcedperformance.net/mhi...or-evo-ix.html

Looks to be between 71 and 54 but with an oem housing. (Cough Kaj Cough).

It doesn't spool at 7rpm, it'll be laggy for kaj.

I assume this turbo's been machined for bigger turbine and compressor wheels. I wonder what other design improvements Mitsubishi made to this turbo.

I'm really liking it and strongly considering buying one to put on the shelf as back up. I like the OEMness

It's for this reason I am thinking of grabbing one as well. Very similar to early style HTA68's that came out. Looks like a OEM replacement for 1g's. I'm just waiting for some data / real-world usage to be shown before I get one.

With all the years and history of turbos for our car, It's really very easy to predict how this turbo will react. What else do you need?

The stock turbo spools at ~3400, what's your point?

I installed it on a X and found it real laggy on lower RPM.. and X is a fast spooling platform due to having mivec on both cams.. It was much laggier than stock X turbo but really rips above 5000... I always thought that a BB version might be better but never tried that one..

Maybe you need a naturally aspirated V8.

And,' on cue, looks like my 71 is belching smoke from under the hood and exhaust. At least I assume that's where its from, seeing how my comp test is good and the smoke is intermittent,

I thought Kaj would say something like this.lol

Its a small turbo and a 4g63 engine can only move so much air at low rpm. Most MHI housing turbo's are online between 3300-3800 on a mivec 2.0. I'd gladly trade a few hundred on the bottom end of things to go well to 8000.

Now, if we were talking about a Focus RS engine then I would be concerned about lag at 3500 ! They seem to be choked out with a single exhaust port by 6500.
