OK, pulled off the bar and made some revisions last night, found about 5#. She fought back though, I cut her she cut me, you know how it goes...

Anyway, got it back in and called it a night. And then it dawned on me, is there more weight hiding somewhere in the heater core? I thought I recalled someone mentioning the evaportator for AC is in there? I pulled all of my engine bay AC components but never did anything behind the dash. Is there another couple lbs waiting for me? Anyone attacked that? Keep in mind heater box is staying I just want to gut any remaining AC crap. Thanks everyone!

You don't actually "need" the heater core unless rules state it. In most conditions shaving cream or rainx anti-fog do very well. In other conditions you can actually get "defrost wire" much like your rear windshield. They have miata kits but it's just a matter of wiring. Hella lighter then that core and all that plumbing. Plug the gaping hole with a painted piece of metal.

Heh heater core is staying for now since im a sissy, and well, it might need to stay in for classing. Funny though Ive thought about pulling rear wiper and the sprayer just never got around to it since its rear weight which is far less of a concern to me at this stage. I love Rainx btw but not sure if speeds in autox are high enough for it to be effective.

Anyway, got the evaporator out last night it was cake. Didnt have to pull the dash bar again which was nice. Just a few screws that go from the blower motor into the heater box, pull off that piece in between the two and evap just slid right out. So yeah to answer my question yesterday to anyone that is reading this in the future, removal is simple and basically just comes right out no fuss. It was 2.8# btw Dash is back together now, that was a blast

Ha lazy lol. But you're talking about the yellow bottle rainx still, that's good and all, but the Black bottle that says anti-fog is for the inside glass so speed won't matter. The Spec Miata guys are too cheap so they use shaving cream which creates a hell of a mess buuuut it works just as well it seems.

Correct, yeah the yellow bottle. Ill have to check out this black bottle you speak of, antifog is a sweet feature!

And LOL the cheapness of Miata guys never ceases to amaze me. Im just jealous they can buy a set of tires for what one cost me. Or that adding fuel before racing is essentially optional. But man a thing of Rainx is probably like $8 max. I bought some 10 years ago and still have it kicking around hah!
