InfiniteEvo's Wet Sump Thread
I also did the same and i just cant see where people were being hostile either. I think they were all valid questions and mikes response was very thorough and professional. good on a forum where somebody may have a similar issue in 3 - 4 years time and come across this thread and see the steps required.
Props to RSMike for handling this professionally and trying to come up with some useful information for future customers.
I may have found the issue with wrench Access
When I was buttoning the car up I noticed that the oil filter appeared to be at an angle. I expected it to be vertical and perpendicular to the oil pan / lower engine gasket surface. I zeroed a digital level on the flat potion of the oil pan and measured the angle of the filter. The filter is angled 6 degree toward the engine. This means the Oil Filter Housing is bent. I don't see how this could have happened in the car. Has to been done in assembly or by transport hold downs. Owned the car since new. This is too large of an error to be machining. Nothing shows impact marks or is leaking. I assume the four bolts held the sealing surface flat to the block and whatever bent it moved the lower half of the OFH toward the block making wrench access impossible.
The good news is that unless they are all built this way for some reason. Nobody else should have this problem.

Hey @mitsuatb , just so I understand exactly what the problem is.
Did you have trouble getting a suitable sized tool onto the OFH cap, so this forced you to remove the oil filter housing?
The oil filter housing itself actually moves around quite a lot on the bolt holes, there are no dowels to align it.
I'm wondering if your setup was just in a position that's not normal (which is why you're having problems were others haven't).
Not being lousy, just trying to drill-down to work out exactly what the problem was.

This is help?
"Theres always a tool if your creative enough haha. " Most people would not find this helpful, and I didn't. Stop with the gaslighting nothing helpful or positive about most of this. Tell a guy who just swapped all suspension, front brakes, wired gages, braced MC, swapped clutch, flywheel, main seal, oil pan, LICP, all hoses, thermostat, shifter bushings, exhaust manifold, O2 housing, 3" cat, 3" exhaust, quick shifter, and did this on jack stands by himself. That his wrenches are too "Chunky" or there's always a "Tool" and you are lucky to only get a terse reply.

But most importantly, have you asked yourself why you are reacting so defensively and insulting other members because they have a different opinion or experience? A little self reflection might go a long way towards bettering your experience on the forum.
I’m also not sure why you feel like I am lucky all you did was leave a terse reply. I was simply trying to steer you away from earning a time out.
cheers!
Members should consider that what they post may be offensive to me, As I explained and you clearly missed. I have been driving my Evo for 16 years bought it new. Many think they know more than me most don't. RSmike is the only helpful person that has asked a question on this issue or offered me anything useful. You are just gaslighting and acting high and mighty. I am not impressed with that.

Interesting choice. Have you considered the possibility that others who are responding might have more experience to draw from? Or that they’re asking these questions to figure out why you had problems?

You need to remember people arent standing in your garage with you and need to ask questions to establish what may be the issue. especially when people have installed the same part with similar tools and not had an issue so asking things like are your wrenches abnormally chunky are genuine questions. Remember they have never seen your wrenches and have no idea what your using or who you are and that your a self appointed evo "knows more than most" guy.
I still stand by theres always a tool for every job. ive made numerous custom tools to do jobs on evo's which generic tools cant get in. I have shaved down spanners etc to get into tight spots e.g the oil feed line nut on garrett turbo's. Maybe the Evo 9 has a slightly different front cover or something and you need to make up a special tool to get to this bolt. Maybe supply some pictures and people might see the difference straight away. If nobody else has had your issue its natural for them to try work out what you've done differently to them. As you established now yours's is bent by the sounds of it.
