I Ran in BSP today and ended up 3rd out of 3. I can't complain. I was 1.167 seconds off first place but the real story is that Sean was a mere 0.395 off the lead. So way to go.

Mark was fast today too. I'll let him speak on that if he wishes.

I felt pretty good about yesterday's result. I ran a 31.5 to match Mark Madarasch's best time and finished fifth in PAX. Of course an FP car is supposed to be faster than Mark's ESP Firebird, but I admit I'm not driving as well as Mark M.

I had the front sway bar disconnected (due to needing to modify the end links to fit properly) and it actually made the car handle better on the tight Pennington concrete course. The Evo rotated much better on the tight course where last weekend it pushed with the bar connected at the same site. It worked at Pennington, but would be way too loose for a larger Nationals type course, so I'll be connecting the bar before heading to Lincoln in a couple of weeks.

This coming weekend, we'll be fabricating an undercar bracket to mount the lead ballast in a bit better location. After spending the entire day corner-weighting & getting a fresh alignment Saturday, Chris at COBB Tuning did a super job to get the car 50/50 left/right, both front and rear with driver, not an easy task. Car is running great and pulls strong with a great tune that Calvin at COBB put on the car's AccessPort. Fresh tires will arrive this week to get mounted up, so things are coming together.

Mark

Mark, depending on the course, don't be afraid to disconnect the front sway. It definitely worked for you! If nats is tight, that might be the ticket!

Except that the lead was some underpowered and underprepped RX-8 on old track tires.

Mark, did you ever figure out where the leak was coming from? Best of luck in Lincoln this year - FP should be a fun class to watch!

Thanks Iain - Nationals is going to be fun. I'm caravaning up Friday, Sep 4 with Tommy and staying until 9/12. Never did find a leak. We jacked the car up and even Kurt crawled under and couldn't find anything. Undercar and trunk were completely dry. No hose leaks and filter on fuel cell vent was dry. There's no other liquid lines back in the left corner that would produce a "stream" without leaving some evidence. Shock and brake lines were not leaking. At the end of the event another corner worker said it looked like a stream of smoke rather than liquid to him. I'm taking the car out of the trailer this evening and will remove the left rear wheel to check closely for any tire rub. The only thing I changed from previous week was to slightly lengthen the rear sway bar end links, but it's something I can check.

Mark

I always seem to think the car is going to grip better than it actually does. You'd think I'd have learned by now.
