Most of the time unless I get a rate lower than my savings/CD rate. Sometimes I take the financing in order to sweeten the deal (since a dealer makes money on the financing) and then pay it off within 3 months.

I hate owing people money. If you owe someone money they control you. I owe a small amount on the jeep (at 1.5%) simply for cashflow purposes, but other than that, I only owe on my house (15y @ 3.375%).

I know I'm in a different place in my life than many, but I get worried when I hear people say "when I pay off one thing I'll buy another" as that's indicative of much of the financial crisis this country is currently in.

Interesting. Borrowing money is not a bad thing, especially a home. Both my cars are financed at 1.9%. I earn far more than this in the market so its just not a good decision from a pure financial standpoint to pay car for cars, a home, or anything where the supplier offers you little or no interest. I do understand the feeling of just not owing anyone anything.

The financial crisis was and is caused by people over extending and a sence of entitlement. "I need me a Mercedes or BMW but I wont buy health insurance" Or instead of buying this Altima, I'll get upside down and lease this BMW. MY favorite is, I only make 50K a year and buy a 200K home.

Hell there are people that own Evo's and cant afford oil changes or tires by their own admission.

Probably could have gotten a better deal if we'd done a group buy. So selfish, Tom, hogging all the good deals for yourself.
