how many of you guys drive in the snow? call me crazy, but i'm considering packing it in for the winter b/c of the salt. this is a car i'd like to keep as track car for at least 10 years. i know that seems long but i've always wanted an EVO, and i can't see myself selling mine anytime soon (hence out of the snow). more importantly, how good/bad is the rust protection?
see you guys sunday....hopefully

i drive mine in the winter. the only rust i have seen on my car is a tiny bit of surface rust on part of the door where my friend took a nice chip out of the paint by opening the door in my garage too fast and hitting the wall. ha.
i wouldn't worry about it. just wash her as often as possible. i run my car through the touch free wash near my house as often as i can during the winter. sometimes up to 4 times a week.

You'll be fine in the winter. I don't have any seriously visible rust spots. Except for the minor areas where i had some serious rock chips.
I think packing it up would be a big mistake. I have to admit that the evo saved my life a few times. That is if i was driving another car, i know i would have not been as calm and confident as i was.
Nothing better than driving 15mph more than other drivers and being in complete control.

I do 24/7 - 365
The evo is an absolute animal in the snow........Empty parking lots are just to much fun during snow storms. Plus I couldn't justify making a car payment and having it sit, but thats me.
I dont mind driving AWD cars in the snow, family cars consist of a XC90 suv we had a couple audi A4's etc. and they are all AMAZING in the snow. But to me if i drive my evo in the snow, i am not worried about my self. I am really worried about others smashing into me. Its not up to you if someone wants to F up your evo or not when you least expect it.
My evo will never see snow...I feel like I am always working on someones car and I see the effects of salt and whatever else the use on roads now. I hate rust with a pashion and if you drive in the snow it will happen, not if but when. I have no doubt the car would do awesome but I want to have it for a long time. I have a winter beater and honestly sometimes it's nice to jump into something and really not care what happens to it. Just me 2 cents....enjoy either way!

Mine will not see winter once salt hits the road, plus its a good time for a good tear down for major upgrades or freshening up
what she is putting down before I put her away and do some upgrades over
the winter.

what an idiot. i really hope that is some kind of practical joke. because if not. oh boy.
This Sunday. North Park. There will be a non points "fun" autocross.
as long as there is no snow on the ground Saturday night, it's on.
weather looks alright so far. 30% chance of some rain with temps in the mid 50's.
http://nhscc.com/
Race day starts with registration from 8:30 to 9:30am. Tech inspection closes at 10:00am. Timed runs follow the mandatory Drivers Meeting. Bring something to mark your car with (either masking tape or a paint marker), and a Snell 85 or newer helmet.
this will be the last event for the year, so come on out.
