looking for the best evo shop in ct

hey,
I have been pricing around some work to be done on my evo and wanted to get some opinions on who does the best work in ct. I was set on going to pruven in branford and then i heard all this **** talk about how bad they were. Then i heard that victor research was the best with dsm work....just wanted to know what everyone thought...
thanks

give Kyle @ Bishop Motorsports a call 1-860 269-7821...he's your best bet for suspension but he can also do everything from exhuast to turbo installs and has a dyno and can tune. Tell him Alex sent ya

There is also ICS, I've never heard anything really bad about them, but they are bigger on the subie forums. I wouln't recommend Pruven or XXTuning at all. Victor Research is supposed to be good as well. The shop has an awesome owner*Jimmy* but I've never had work done there, I'm sure its great.

Just man up and go to Turbotrix. Really cool guys and awesome work. Everytime I've been there I've been 100% pleased and would highly recommend them to anyone.

I would suggest XX Tuning to everyone that askes. Why do you two say don't go to XX?

I have gone to them many times for my STi, Cobra and Lightning and have always had a good experience. I have never had a problem with any car I have brought to them and I will bring my Evo to them when I am ready to mod it.

^becaues they've blown up customer's cars on the dyno and on the street...i talked to a guy who used to work for them and he told me about it...they've also been known to take customer's cars out without permission and race them (they blew up an STI doing this)

Ah yes, the good ol' days. I too remember them blowing up cars by accident and then making the customer pay for the new parts and install.

In this business, reputation is 90% of the game. XX Tuning has a horrible reputation with many customers. If you notice, everyone has an opinion of XX either good or bad. I personally never had any issues with them when they did a turbo upgrade on my WRX, but then I started hearing all the stories about the owner ripping people off, and it seemed EVERYONE had a story about their dishonest business. They have been known to put used parts on cars (selling the parts as new), and they even charged my friend for ceramic coating on his turbo that was never actually done. That's some pretty blatant shady-ness. They supposedly have some new management, but I'll never go back there based on the recent stories I've heard.

To the OP: I'd check out Bishop in Avon and The Shop in Norwalk. Both shops have been getting very good reviews. The Shop is very competent with more complicated installs such as cams and head work. Bishop is excellent at alignments/suspension work. Jimmy at The Shop has a flawless reputation, and in this business, that's everything.

Do you know his alignment pricing, is it any good? and is his rack accurate? I'm finding DIY to be the best for alignments recently.

The guys know their business and THEY know Evos inside out. Evos are employee's cars so they know...

I recently installed and tuned my Cosworth cams there. Believe me you won't lose. Very professional...

I live in Queens, Its less than an hour drive from my house, and i drive VERY slow... (!!!) Don't like tickets...

Being from CT i have seen alot of work done out of a many of these shops.

XX tuning does decent work, however they are over priced and I was told by my cousin who is an ex-employee not to go there for multiple reasons.

Pruven does decent work, I havent seen anything come out of there bad. but I wasnt fond of Dan the owner at all. I like when the shop will actually talk to you about what they are doing to your car, and what they recommend.. etc.

I havent dealt with The Shop but I have heard all good things about their work.

I guess it all depends on what you want done.
If you want extensive work done, I would recommend going the extra drive and go to Turbo Trix, you won't be disappointed with them at all.
