I heard it was going to snow again, yet when I woke up this morning, I thought were going to get more than we did. Either way, my commute was a good one. Almost nobody on the road = funtimes

T- I dunno what you were looking to pay for the TV but www.woot.com has a 47" Phillips LCD 1080P for $905/shipped today.

i has a not want to be at work today...
I'd be careful with the "recertified" refurbished tv's that usually go on woot.
I personally wouldn't buy a Phillips 47" when for a few hundred more you can find a 46" Sony W series or Samsung new.
Phillips hasn't been known to make the best LCD's in terms of picture quality & reliability.

I agree...stay away from recert/refurb! And Paul, as far as 720p vs 1080p, are you serious??? WTF would be the point of buying a 720p TV? If you are going to be spending the money anyways, man up and get the real deal! Don't be a puss!
for anything <40" there is absolutely no need for 1080p. I can tell you on my current 27" HD CRT TV 1080i looks like crap - i always run it in 480p instead (no 720 option)

But, as far as 720p vs 1080p, first off, you need an HD box for even 720p. Second, I have a 36" (I think!) CRT 1080i, and it looks 10 times better in 1080i vs 480p. Granted there is not much difference in picture quality between 720p and 1080i. I agree that you should definitely not spend $900 on that small of a tv. But if you are going 37" or larger, I should think 1080p would make quite the difference...
