I don't even know if you're gonna find a shop that can do this on the X yet, but wouldn't hurt to try. Maybe JNZ Tuning?

Until then, live with the warning light on the dashboard, or pay for it. I'm sorry, I know that wasn't the answer you were looking for, but there isn't a better one that I know of, for now. I'll let you know if I find a better solution for this.
Yea i kinda figured I would hear this already, I already have the second set of sensors but u still have to reprogram...someday someone will have a solution lol

can't you just buy the reprogramming tool for like 300 bucks or so? someone on this site posted up a link to one.

Check this:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ca...rket-rims.html

search for "Bartec". Its actually 1200 bucks they say, gonna do a google search for this sucker now to see how much it actually is.

EDIT: just found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Barte...ht_1686wt_1217

EDIT: One more link at "buy.com" for $385.

EDIT: Found one more:

Looks like something around 400 is the norm. Also, they say they can reset the sensors for the car to learn, what they dont say specifically is if it will allow us to reprogram the car to a new set of TPMS sensors.

EDIT: Soooooooooooo..... I just spoke to someone at Bartec and apparently the 300 & 300 Plus are no good since they can only be used to reset the sensors. They cannot reprogram the ECU to look for the new TPS sensors. We will need the model 400 for that. What's even worse is that the X is not yet supported and they expect to have that feature middle this year. So, it looks like the dealership is really our only option. That Model 400 is friggin expensive..........

Or you might just wanna use this till it gets cheaper:

So even with a second set of sensors, you still need to have them reprogrammed every time you change wheels?

I thought once a wheel was set up, you could swap it as many times as you want. So that you can change wheels, put them back on, and it would recognize them since they were on the car before.

Or is it because the ECU can only store 4 TPMS codes at a time? That you can't swap 8 wheels (2 sets) back and forth?

tim, i read that only one set can be stored at a time and the X is apparently picky about what sensors are used. i don't know this for sure but someone said the tirerack tpms sensors don't work with the X.

a lot of people are using the stock sensors with their new wheels but a great majority are dealing with the warning light.

Yes!!

ECU stores only 4 TPMS codes at a time along with their respective positions (FL/FR/RL/RR). The moment you get a second set of wheels, you will need to get the TPMS sensors from the original wheels to ensure you can still see TPMS Messages correctly.

The Bartec 300 and 300 plus can only be used to reset the sensors so that once we put the car into the learn mode, we can re-record the positions that each sensor is at. For eg: when you rotate your wheels at regular oil change intervals, you can use the 300. However, if you want to change to a completely new set of TPMS sensors, you'll need the Bartec model 400 to update the ECU through OBD connectivity to record the new TPMS codes that it needs to look for, and that piece goes for ~2500 USD.

The Lancer and the EVO use TPMS sensors manufactured by VDO (Formerly Siemens, now owned by Continental) according to this website:

http://www.mitsubishi-tpms.com/

I dunno if the the info here is legit, but this is what I could find.

Thanks. I already got the OEM Mitsu TPMS sensors for another set of wheels. I was just hoping I could have both sets programmed so they were easily swapped. I will probably get my summer set programmed then, and deal with the light over the winter months. I'll have to see how much it costs at the dealer....

Thanks for the help.

i have never messed around with tpms.. but it would think that you could take them off the stock wheels, and put all 4 in a pressurized pvc pipe or something, and leave it in the trunk no?

forgive me if that was a retarded statement as im a lowly evo8 owner.

So long as you use another set of OEM approved sensors and get those sensors programmed for the car, they should work

I have two set of wheels both with two sets of sensors, the car can learn only one set at a time.
