Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
in other news: a friend of mine is selling his 2005 rx-8 with 56k miles. He's asking $12k. I'm 110% sure the car has never been modified or even raced (dare i say it). He's just not into cars like that.
15 hour workday. nyquil and scotch welcome to my stomach.
so bummed, volunteered to help coach hockey this weekend. just met a guy at work who just started, around my age, has a lightly modded 95 m3. he is going to HPDE or track day at VIR this weekend.
good new he lives in bumble eff VA but with full garage, ability to wash cars in the winter, and storage room for tools. Marc, this season is happening, ive been convinced.

Anyone looking for fresh rebuilt Stance 3 Way Coilovers with 12kg front/rear springs? Also have a pair of 10kg and 11kg springs and collars I will throw in. I used these last year to win TTS in NASA Northeast TT Series. Moving back to TTA so I need Single Adjustables to save points.

Bump for a built 4G64. I think I'm pulling it and throwing the 2.0 back in with upgraded rods and pistons. I'm just at my wits end. The damn turbo has smoked non stop since day one. I've rebuilt it twice, replaced both wheels, and every bearing and seal and still it smokes. The only original part is literally the CHRA and turbine housing. After some research it turns out excessive blowby can cause a turbo to smoke. I seem to have just that problem and at this point ($500 later) I have essentially a brand new turbo with no signs of problems. It only really smokes at idle and low speed, but heavily. It could be because it's a new motor and the rings haven't seated but I've built several and never had that problem before. I'm 20 miles in and it's getting worse not better. I also received rings that were a hair under the maximum gap I should run. I chocked it up to me not measuring right and installed them anyway. In retrospect, I likely received the wrong piston rings. I'm pretty pissed at myself, but I don't have time to do another rebuild. I hate life right now. There goes my next 2 weekends and a large sum of wasted money.
need a hug josh?
just got home and realized after a long work day, the ice cold ithaca flower power beer I had saved for today I accidentally left in the freezer and it exploded as soon as i opened it. pissed. good news is now ill have ipa flavored ice!

If you need any help let me know. I *might* have some free time over the next two weekends and it's always fun to learn how take thing apart.
I'm good at holding a lamp and I can distinguish metric from non-metric tools.
dan ... im pretty sure thats a hole. I know the difference between congealed blood and a hole. Hope everything is ok bro.

So kinda confused... You think its actually the rings and not the turbo?
Not sure but Im almost positive its the rings. Compression when hot is 150 psi. 180-190 is what Id expect. Unfortunately I cant see a way to really diagnose anything without pulling the head. The turbo cant be bad. I had 2 different shops check and balance the wheels and I cant see them missing something. I checked the housing too. Before the build up I had no problems with the turbo. The only reason I rebuilt it is because it started smoking heavily as soon as the new motor warmed up.
